One of the most instammable place during my last trip to Ubud, Folk Pool & Gardens gave such a memorable and a really soothing experience after a long day for me.
Since it is my first destination after i arrived in Bali, i didn't get the chance to unpack my swimshorts to try on the infamous pool. Having said that, i tried dipping in my feet, and the water temperature is just perfect.
Located just a few hundred meters away from the Monkey Forest, in non pandemic situation, i don't think it is allowed to park anywhere near the place as it is a two way street and there are no parking signs everywhere, so you might need to park somewhere else. But when i visit there, i did saw a lot of cars parked nearby.
The place has such a different look and feel during the day and night as can be seen in the pictures i uploaded. Hence it is recommended to visit the place around 4-5 PM if you want to enjoy both vibes.
They have movie night program daily and free flow popcorn package to accompany it.
Now, to the food. I feel like i'm getting my money's worth of food and drink if not more. Their satay definitely has one of the best sauces i ever tasted. The nutty taste combined with a hint of spice and acid from lime creates such a refreshing and bold flavors in your mouth. And the fried rice is full of toppings (veggies and chicken). The meat is tender and very al dente (i know it's a word to describe pasta, but my point is, it's has that some sort of springy texture that's really nice when you bite it).
The Peach & Rosemary tea are also nice. I'm not sure if the Rosemary syrup they use is homemade or not, but it's real nice.
The staffs are all very affable, polite, and attentive.
Overall, really enjoyed my whole experience there, and will definitely come back to enjoy the pool and...
Read moreBeing from the states, there’s tons of trendy hotels that offer a service like this, all in which is outrageously expensive. While in Ubud, our hotel had a comfy pool, but not to the level we were trying to enjoy. There’s a lot of walking in Ubud, and we just wanted to relax....swim, lounge, drink, and eat, all in one place. This place is amazing, and perfect if your hotel doesn’t have a pool. It’s tucked away in the rear, so the street becomes invisible. It’s a mini Bali oasis right in the middle of Monkey Forest. It was 4 of us, and we knew we wanted to splurge a bit (because everything else in Ubud is insanely cheap). We reserved a cabana bed the night before, and it was ready at 11am when we arrived. The site does state that your reservation can be forfeited at anytime if they need to accommodate others, but we had no problems. We stayed from 11am to last 6pm, and it was perfect because this place never got packed or pretentious. They provided towels, the music, vibes, staff, food, and drinks were great. We met other Americans while in the pool, and had a great time at the swim up bar trading travel stories. I feel if it’s going to be 2+ ppl, splurge and split the cost. But there’s also hammocks, standard table and chairs, and lounge chairs to enjoy. There’s no need to spend the money on a cabana bed, we only did because of how long we planned on being there. For 4 ppl, who bought several rounds of drinks, food, and the bed rental, our bill was about $150-200 USD, and we split it amongst ourselves. We would’ve never gotten a deal like that anywhere back in NYC for the length of time we stayed....
Read moreThe ambience, food & bev, price were all great! Got nothing to complain on that, just a bit of a turn off on service. One of the waitresses was a bit hard to communicate with, asked her for info on pool usage fee she blatantly said "no" without apologizing, which is slightly understandable maybe it's due to language barrier perhaps. Asked the same matter to another male staff (manager maybe), he was very very helpful and friendly, he also provided us with a legit info on pool usage terms which we are very thankful about. Another thing was the same waitress took our additional order whilst we were moving seats, looks like she didn't catch it that well and in the end she didn't pass on our order to the kitchen. Waited for quite long, since the food shows no sign of coming out we asked again and turns out our assumptions were right. But everything was solved, food came out really great. It was definitely worth the visit.
