I'm VERY surprised by the positive reviews on here. This was unfortunately our worst dining experience in Ubud. The staff was neglectful and unpleasant which was a big change to what we have become used to on this trip. My wife ordered a soup which she enjoyed, however I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and it smelled like canned wet dog food. I'd imagine that the taste is quite similar as well. Would give this place a hard pass, as there are so many delicious and friendly restaurants to choose from in Ubud, and this is not one of them. Perhaps our service issues were an isolated problem that night, it seemed as though other people's servers would stop by the table while ours seem to float around the middle of the restaurant and need to be waived down a couple of times before she would visit us. To top it off, when it came time to grab our bill our waitress seemed to just walk away from the front of the restaurant, and we had to flag down another staff member yet again...very bizarre. I really don't leave negative reviews often but our experience here was a big bummer end to our last night in Ubud. The place looks nice from the outside which is why we decided to give it a try. So far we have found the best food can be found in the more low key...
Read moreAmazing quality food AND cheaper than most 5 star restaurants around Ubud. For the affordable price (most starters and meals start at 40k-65k RP and up to 105k for larger entrees), the food quality is beyond my expectations.
I ordered lemon iced tea and iced Bali coffee, they offer an organic fruit syrup with the drinks that will transform your ordinary drinks into a specialty experience. For meals we ordered the carmalized pork and the chef special recommendation for the day which was laska, we got the chicken option.
Along with the incredible service, staff was very personable and gave us local tips for travelling around Ubud (we took Adiyas advice to travel up north to the lake temples and mountains).
Total price: 250k for two people. Total satisfaction: worth every minute.
Got a free dessert from talking with the staff and making new friends! Amazing black Bean and sweet sticky rice pudding... What a way to top off a budgeted experience!
Come before 7PM to avoid busy crowds. If you see Adiya, ask him for recommendations around ubud and he'll be happy to give you...
Read moreWe were told by friends that we had to visit White Orchid Ubud. I ordered the Pork Chow Bao and it was fantastic. My husband ordered the caramalized pork belly but was a bit disappointed that it hadn't been rendered down further. There was too much fat left on it. Despite this, the flavours were great. He also had the Masaman Curry and really enjoyed it. Our server was great, but stuck around the table trying to make small talk for far too long. It was a bit uncomfortable. For example, I pulled some of the green spring onions out of my Chow Bao because there were too many for my liking, and she was questioning why I removed them. Do I not like spring onions? Why did I order that item if I didn't like spring onions? It was awkward when she did the same for all of our ordered items. She was just trying to build a relationship with the table, how we do in Canada (I am a server myself), but it just came across very awkward to us. However, we would absolutely return to this restaurant because the food...
