Usually, I gave a perfect score for this chain restaurant (kelapa gading & senopati outlets). However, for this specific outlet I gave a moderate rating only. Disclaimer: NOT because of the qualities they have for overall chain. But more on their ANTICIPATIONS when it comes with a busy hours which is a fully packed of guests. Foods, actually the quality was good (not great). The reason is when you eat sushi / sashimi it supposely you still can taste the coolingness of the fish that being served. On this occasion, the fish is not cold anymore (too long being exposed with room temperature) due to lack of staff or maybe too much guests that they have to serve during peak hours, resulting my sashimis already lost their cooling sensation. The staff, still very friendly to us, however too bad that we need to be more patient with our hunger waited our foods to come (for sashimis preparation I waited almost 1 hour). The staffs are too busy, even they seem cannot take their own breath. The outlet, quite small. So we must be patient for the waiting list being called 1 by 1. My suggestion: avoid to visit during peak hours, they dont have enough space and adequate staffs to serve you. They overwhelmed, exhausted, and your food took ages to come to your table. If you prefer the speedy service, dont bother to come here. If you wish your sushi & sashimi still cold and you feel very hungry, try to looking other sushi restaurants available there. You'll starve and get faint if you insist to visit...
Read moreSushi Hiro, is without doubt a really popular Japanese restaurant, as evidenced by the queues snaking on an evening. We waited around 20 minutes for our table. While there's a QR code to scan for a PDF menu, I would recommend getting the hard copy one, as they update it if certain ingredients are not available. Also, at 69 pages, it would be easier to flip than scroll.
For starters, I got the hotate batayaki, and these buttered scallops tasted so good. Then, I got the Hiro premium sushi and Hiro mentai series, and I loved the presentation. Placed on a step-like structure, you help yourself to each piece of sushi. I also got the aburi beef foie gras sushi and the foie gras melted in my mouth, it was so good. Do get the beef charcoal grilled, where you can indicate your preference of doneness. The meat is so tender.
If you would like a more gimmicky experience, go for the special treasure box, where you have strips of crispy nori, and you can then scoop up the ikuro, salmon or minced tuna. If you're craving for something deep-fried, the chicken nanban is pretty good as well, though I thought there was way too much mayo compared to egg.
Overall a very good meal, with lots of variety. Food is also served...
Read moreThey say love is like sushi, sometimes you crave it, sometimes you overthink it, but in the end, you always come back for more. Sushi Hiro at Grand Indonesia feels exactly like that kind of relationship.
From the moment the plates start arriving, towering sashimi, delicate rolls, fresh nigiri, it feels like being spoiled by someone who knows your taste without you having to say a word. There's an intimacy in every bite, a story behind each slice of salmon that melts effortlessly, almost like the way certain memories refuse to leave your tongue.
The wasabi here is not just a condiment, it's a reminder. That in every love story, there will be a sting, a heat that rises to your nose, a sharp moment that wakes you up. And yet, just like relationships, you keep coming back for another taste, because what's love without a little fire?
Dining here isn't just about food. It's about surrendering to the rhythm of flavor, sharing plates the way you share secrets, and realizing that maybe, just maybe, the best relationships are like sushi rolled with care, seasoned with balance, and always leaving you wanting just...
