Remboelan Grand Indonesia – A Warm Journey Through Indonesian Cuisine
I recently visited Remboelan Grand Indonesia and was pleasantly surprised by its ambitious take on “Indonesian soul food.” The restaurant is located on Level 3A (Sky Bridge / East Mall side) of Grand Indonesia and offers a cozy, heritage-inspired atmosphere — think Joglo doors, wooden accents, Betawi lamps and traditional decor motifs that evoke the local culture.
The menu is extensive, spanning dishes from across the archipelago. I tried Iga Bakar, Ayam Taliwang, Bakwan Jagung, Nasi Goreng Sei Sapi Hijau, and Cireng Bumbu Rujak. Highlights for me were the Iga Bakar (tender ribs grilled with flavorful spices) and the Nasi Goreng Sei Sapi Hijau (green chili fried rice with beef). The Bakwan Jagung also stood out with its sweet, savory balance. Dessert options and drinks were satisfying, and servers were friendly and accommodating.
Service is generally good — polite staff, helpful in explaining menu items, and pleasant demeanor. During my visit, there was a slight delay at peak hours, which seems common (especially during dinner).

✅ Pros & ⚠️ Cons
Pros: • Authentic and wide variety of Indonesian regional dishes • Inviting interior that reflects Indonesian cultural design • Portions are generous for most main dishes • Good service, staff are courteous and responsive • Convenient for shoppers in Grand Indonesia
Cons: • During peak times, you may have to wait or be placed on a waiting list • Some tables / aisles are narrow, making movement (especially with trolleys or large groups) a bit cramped • A few dishes (like grilled fish or spicy items) in some reviews were described as “not spicy enough” or slightly off from expectations • Pricing is on the higher side for some items, given its mall location

🌟 Recommendation / Tips for Visitors • Go early (just after opening or before dinnertime) to avoid the long queues. They also now has a queueing system that u have to scan the QR code and queue. But u have to he there on time. Otherwise you have to rejoin the queue again! • Reserve a table, especially on weekends or for large groups. • Try their signature dishes — Iga Bakar, Ayam Taliwang, Bakwan Jagung. • Ask for adjustments (less spicy, milder) if you prefer a gentler flavor — staff seem open to it. • Leave room for dessert or a refreshing drink (they offer local flavors) • If you’re with friends or family, order a few different regional dishes to sample...

Today I am having a lunch with a friend from Bintaro. Actually, we planned to eat something else since the last time we met. Sadly the restaurant is closed permanently.
So, we decided to come to Remboelan since the two of us loved Indonesian food. As you can see, we ordered plenty of it.
The satay is good but it’s a little overcooked imho, so the meat were not tender and juicy anymore. Pecel can never goes wrong but the chips/cracker/rempeyek need to be more seasoned. My asam jawa drink was very nice it’s refreshing but a little too sweet. Squid with pete is the best one we agreed on. The spiciness of the sauce is good, the squid is perfectly cooked, it’s tender and flavorful. And the last one, nasi campur manado; idk why that I’ve never get a chance to eat a fragrant turmeric rice like the one I had back in my hometown, Palu. This one is ok, the sides also amazing, but the best side goes to ikan roa or cakalang fufu (smoked). Amazing dinner experience.
If you come to the restaurant, they will ask you to wait before to be seated to your seat. After you sit, you’ll fond yourself with some crackers (Indonesian traditional) and the waitress will come and asked if you want to try their snacks (lupis, risol, pastel, etc).
This place is located at the sky bridge of Grand Indonesia Mall. But, it’s closer to the West Mall building. If I am not mistaken, it’s on 3rd floor.
Public transportation: MRT Dukuh atas BNI or Bundaran HI with around 7 mins walking. Or Transjakarta Tosari ICBC or Bundaran Hotel Indonesia point to stop.
The waitress was very informative and if you’re lucky like me, you’ll find yourself welcome drink at...
Read moreWas excited to try on this place which i have booked through their link during ramadhan month. They sent a whatsapp message to confirm my booking which i have done through the link earlier. Due to language barriers in their confirmation, we were not aware that we would need to confirm our booking again through whatsapp. Fast forward to the day where we book to get our dinner. Mind you, this was during ramadhan month and the booking was made at 730pm. Fasted and waited the whole day for us to truly enjoy the food later on. As we arrived at Grand Indonesia, at 725pm they inform that since we did not confirm our booking through whatsapp, our booking was cancelled. Which i have informed them, that we are walking towards the restaurant. The admin told us that it hs been cancelled and we do not have our booking anymore. Understandable that we did not confirm through whatsapp which is due to language barriers (whatsapp is in indonesian language), however i did not understand why this was only confirmed 5 mins before our booked time? Cant it be done a day earlier, which they could whatsapp us to ask amd confirm and we would be glad to confirm immediately. And the fact that it was before our booked time not even 10mins or 5 mins after 730pm, its so obvious that our seat was given to others before we even had the chance to be there physically. So so disappointed with this branch as i have waited and booked way earlier, and the fact that we were not local, just put off all the expectations we have with Remboelan.
Management please do something on your reservation management. Kindly confirm earlier preferably a day before to confirm with the customer that has booked wayyy before and not 5 mins before and simply let go of the booking even BEFORE the...
