The Tom Yam soup is best taste in Indonesia Thai restaurant, I am happy to give 5 stars. But unfortunately, yesterday around 7pm , we had dinner in here with full of customers. But there was a drunken or mental problem bule interrupted our dinner with rude behavior and not nice words. I asked help from the staffs few time with bahasa Indonesia and English, but all of them did nothing, let me face this situation by myself. That situation was around 10-15 minutes. I was very disappointed of the attitude of warung. I wrote with full of details to describe this situation in my review in the other account, but I think the review was blocked by system, I have no idea why, so I wrote in a short review with my second account. —————————— Update: 14 November
Thanks for your answer and updated, I have already read it.
I didn’t bring my dog to visit you during that night. But yes, few weeks ago afternoon, I passed your warung with my dogs, your staff preparing water for dogs and gave me the nicest Thai food same as I tasted in Thailand. At that moment I want to give you over 5 stars (but I was too busy and forgot to renew Google map). But I keep it in mind and shared your warung information to all of my friends who live in Ubud and love Thai food. Even that night I invited others to taste the best Thai food in your warung.
In general situations, if a drunken interrupted customers in any restaurant, I think the warung (or staffs) has the responsibility to ask the person leaving or call local security to come as soon as possible.
But I already asked help many times with bahasa Indonesia, English, even body languages to let your two staffs get info about “let the bule leave”, “I am scared”, “ I need help”. But they showed me that “okay, understand”, but never try to leave him out (in that 10-15 minutes), even I don’t know why they just looked really busy (I am sure they knew the drunken in there).
After that night, maybe scared and bad experience make me vomit and feel something wrong of my body, so that is the reason I was very emotional to hurry up writing reviews. Because I cannot understand why I asked help many times in before, but the two staffs didn’t do anything and busy on others.
But I guess two staffs are younger ladies, maybe they feel too scared to handle this situation. And some of my Balinese friends say Balinese won’t want to offend that drunken to make it worse, so that may be reason why they never try to negotiate with the drunken while I asked help many times that moment.
For my personal experience, if I face same situation in any place and the staffs not try to let drunken leave as soon as possible. For safety reason, I will pay the bill and leave directly. Nobody knows whether he will do more crazy things or hurt with uncontrollable tool.
For your warung, I will suggest you can consider to hire one more male staff, maybe he will be brave enough to handle this situation directly, if happened again (hopefully never happened)
And I am still happy to promote your tasty food to my friends. And hopefully to visit your warung again in the future (if you still welcome me)
——————— the last time update: Thanks for your answers with details again. It let me feel more better and reduce my “disappoint”. I imagine and hope that you as an international tourist service warung, the staffs may be educated or built up some SOP(Standard Operating Procedures) of all kinds of situation to service custermers. I have already changed the back 4 stars instead of 1 star in google map, for the last star, that is my expectation that your warung can improve the ability of Crisis management of all random situation, and build up some SOP. I apologize for you, if you feel i was over emotional for this case, because as a foreigner living in Bali, I am super sensitive of drunken/mental problem this situation and pay attention for safety in Indonesia, (also, i am sensitive of covid, if an unknown person stands in from of me and my dinner to keep talking).
PS: that is over character limit here, so I delete a part of...
Read moreAt Warung Siam, we had the opportunity to sample their range of Thai dishes, including Som Tam (Thai papaya salad), Tom Yum, green curry, and chicken pandan.
Overall, the food at Warung Siam left much to be desired. While it wasn't terrible, it failed to leave a lasting impression.
The Tom Yum, although decent, lacked the expected spiciness and sourness characteristic of authentic Thai cuisine. We requested a clear Tom Yum, which wasn't on the menu, and while the soup itself was flavorful, the mussels and shrimps were overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture. The dish was also lacking in seafood, with only one mussel and two shrimp in the entire serving.
The Som Tam was perhaps the highlight of the meal, although it still fell short in terms of spiciness. While it was decent, it failed to stand out as anything special.
The chicken pandan, wrapped in pandan leaves, was the most enjoyable dish of the evening. The chicken was tender with a crispy fried texture, providing a satisfying combination of flavors and textures.
However, the green curry was a disappointment. It lacked the essential balance of flavors, being slightly over sweet and lacking in spiciness and depth of flavor. I taste the absence of coriander roots, a fundamental ingredient in traditional Thai green curry, was evident, resulting in a lack of aromatic intensity. While the green curry is about the intense aromatic.
In conclusion, while Warung Siam may cater to a foreign palate by toning down the spiciness of their dishes, the overall dining experience was underwhelming. The lack of authenticity and depth of flavor, particularly in the green curry, leaves much to be desired.
While the woman waiter taff were nice, polite, and professional, we were disappointed by the manner of the last male waiter who served our food. His approach seemed RUSHES and LACKING IN MANNERS, giving the impression that he was throwing the food onto the table. We hope that all staff members receive equal attention to ensure consistent service quality. While this experience was disheartening, we recognize the professionalism of the other staff and acknowledge their efforts. It's important to highlight that our rating is based on the overall dining experience, and we feel that a rating of two stars would not accurately reflect the professionalism demonstrated by the majority...
Read moreAfter a week straight of eating excellent but somewhat repetitive Indonesian food, my wife and I decided to check out Warung Siam for Thai flavors. We arrived at 7:30 to find a sizeable queue waiting to dine in. We ended up waiting about 25 minutes to get a table.
Once inside, we quickly ordered the moo ping, papaya salad, nam tok, and tom yum fried rice. Our food arrived fresh within 10-15 minutes.
We ordered everything “Thai hot,” and they absolutely delivered on the spice. We adore spicy food and found some of the dishes a little challenging in the best possible way. The moo ping represented the least hot dish we ordered, and offered tender skews of sticky sweet pork served alongside glutinous rice and a tasty chili-rice powder dipping sauce. We love Thai style salads and both the papaya salad and nam tok possessed the assertive combination of sour, spicy, and sweet that draw us in towards this genre of cooking. The tom yum fried rice had a pleasant slightly chewy texture with big pieces of fresh seafood and a balanced sour and spicy flavor from the curry paste.
All told, the food here pleasantly harkened back to what we ate when we visited Thailand and tasted better than many Thai restaurants in the US. Warung Siam, as such, heartily merits a visit for anyone in need of a break from the local food or lovers of the...
