I took my girlfriend out here for her birthday dinner. It has a pleasant atmosphere and we were fortunate to find it wasn't extremely busy, but for some reason it took a long time to order by the time they were ready to take our drinks order we we're ready to order our meal. We both decided to go head first for the surf & turf, I mean if you go to a place called beef and lobster you got to order the namesake cause surely it must be great!? Just after 5 minutes of ordering I recognised that they had "the ultimate experience" offer on, I popped over to the waiteress cause I would of had more success grabbing Stevie Wonders attention, & asked what the difference was between what I had ordered & the deal, the waitress told me there was no difference apart from the price so asked if it was possible just to be charged the same price, she went check with the kitchen. Some time later our food came to the table & it looked ravishing! The lobster was cooked wonderfully, buttery & luscious in flavor. The accompanying garlic butter with the lobster made a better partnership than Mel Gibson & Danny Glover, it's lethal! unfortunately the same can't be said of the steak, may as well been used as a weapon, we asked for our steaks to be med rare which they were to be fair! But we were still finding ourselves sawing through the meat & getting an ache in our jaw like a 90s raver. Once we got through our meal we waited approx another 15-20 minutes enough time to work up an appetite for desserts. We had profiteroles and hazelnut ice cream which I have no complaints about, it was delicious. Again we waited for a while to get our bill, as you can tell the waiting staff aren't really attentive. Which can be tolerable if it's bustling, but having to get up and approach the waitress again for the second time is really unprofessional and not what i would be expecting from a restaurant of this caliber or as it projects itself as. When we eventually got the bill I was surprised to see that we had been charged for two surf and turfs instead of the offer, as the waiteress never came back to me to say it wasn't possible to do, I assumed it wasn't an issue. I approached the waiteress again and highlighted this to her. I sat back down and after several minutes the waitress came back to our table and advised the restaurant was not willing to amend the difference. I had accepted this because what is the difference of €10 after spending what was on the bill. For my own piece of mind I asked to confirm if there was a difference in what we had chosen and "the ultimate experience". I was told empathically this time there was not. The waitress left, I took my wallet out to pay when I believe the manageress approached me (My face must of read like a novel of absurdity to the waitress), she explained the reason they wouldn't be able to charge us for the ultimate experience was due to the fact the steaks are actually a different cut. Which is completely fair if we had eaten a more expensive or bigger cut, but what she was saying made no sense as we had eaten a cheaper cut of meat and a smaller amount & been charged more. This reasoning felt quite insulting as she either doesn't have a clue what she's talking about or she thinks we are idiots. She then left satisfied with her answer and by this point I was past caring. I then got up to hand the payment over at the front desk (the amount of times I got up & down from that table I may as well of stripped for my dinner) where the manager came over and told me she had ameded the bill. Which was incredibly gracious of her but the taste of the ultimate experience was a sour one that couldn't be sweetened with this rectification. It's a shame as I believe this place has great potential but they really need to work on their front of house. The staff need to be more informed and more attentive and also they really need to get better quality of beef. These are small issues that can be fixed easily and if they are, they will get my...
Read moreThere’s a lot to say but I will try and keep it short. Summary: 10/10, worth splashing out for.
We went all out with the ultimate beef and lobster experience plus the lobster upgrade (€85+€45) for the two of us. Plus 2 cocktails. With 10% service came to €170 total.
Lobster: a decent amount of meat for tasting. Fantastic with a bit of char from the grill, coupled with garlic butter and a few drops of lemon to cut through the richness.
Sweet n spicy duck wings: really well made, crispy, tender, saucy. A good kick of spiciness that’s not often seen in steak or seafood restaurants.
Bone in rib eye: we had it medium rare. Exactly what you would expect from a nice steak. The pepper sauce was extremely beefy and actually quite spicy too. It was excellent for dipping the fresh, hot house fries into. Possibly the best sauce I’ve ever had.
Prawn roll: this did not have the strong, punchy taste that the other items had, however it was light and refreshing and was a delicious contrast that worked exceptionally well with the rest of the meal.
Sides: Asian slaw - this was a bit dry as it wasn’t made like a conventional slaw. However the flavours were there and the unique combination of ingredients was superb. House fries - hot and crispy, can’t ask for more from fries.
Dessert: warm apple crumble - “delicious” - the wife. Fried Oreo’s cookies & cream ice cream - at this point I was too full to fully enjoy the fried oreos but it was delicious.
Cocktails: nice cocktails, exactly what you’d expect, good but not over the top.
Overall really impressed. You get what you pay for. We expected delicious lobster and steak at this price, and we got it. Therefore the stand outs of the meal were the pepper sauce, duck wings, and asian slaw.
NB: we had reservations for dinner on a Saturday evening. They were full and were turning away people who did not have reservations all evening, so I would recommend making...
Read moreFirst experience of this restaurant on the recommendation of my son who had really enjoyed eating there a few months previously.Booked six days in advance for my son’s birthday. Arrived five minutes early and told that the table wasn’t ready. Waited outside for the next twenty minutes, going inside twice more to see what was happening. The waitress was very apologetic but when my wife explained to the manager that we had booked well in advance and others were being seated before us he became extremely rude to her asking her quite abruptly to calm down. Anyway we got a table in a corner beside the bar which was like being put in the naughty step until Hollie asked if we would like seated elsewhere which we really appreciated. Food was superb as was the atmosphere and service by the waitress’s. Surprisingly we were approached half way through by the manager who then gave us what felt like a strained apology which we accepted given the restaurant was busy. Got the bill which was fine but to be honest I subsequently felt aggrieved that the evening was marred by the manager’s attitude without even an offer to make it up to us. I am definitely not a moaner looking for perks or money off for trivial matters as my wife’s family who have a restaurant often experience (some people are unbelievably brazen at times) but I felt that maybe the bottle of wine we ordered may have been ample recompense as a good will gesture. When you are not overly concerned about the cost of a good experience it could have covered the part of the evening that was awkward and unacceptable which was the only poor experience on the night. Great food, girls were great especially Hollie but boy does the manager need some lessons in customer service. I’m not going to be put off going again but will not accept anything short of common courtesy which as a paying customer I...
