Wednesday night I visited the Boilerhouse. The check in was done by a very nice and friendly staff member but at the check out ( around 1:30am) i came across a non pleasant staff member who’s the same one who shut down the 4th floor and started to clean up. Not the same one whom checked me in. The place officially closes at 2am but they decided to close the 4th floor at 1am. According to him not enough clients. What about if I just wanted to watch a film and relax on the 4th floor? In a very sarcastic way he had asked me if his colleagues during the check in explained to me that the place was going to be shut earlier because lack of guests which I replied no. All of this right in front his colleague whom was kind and checked me in. I wouldn’t have paid 25€ knowing I was not going to avail of the full facilities. If the boiler house want to keep the business going, should get rid of rude people like the one that checked me out that night. To make the matter even worse, out loud he asked his colleague if I owed them anything. His words were “ Does he owe us anything?” making me feel like he really wanted to get rid of me. A paying customer who’s paying his wage. I will definitely recommend all my friends to stay away from this place. I never felt so unwelcome this way before. Rude rude rude. The typical face of a worker whom doesn’t want to be in work at all. Dublin gay scene is a very small one and we all know each other. When I shared my story with my gay friends they all said that the same person that works at this premises had given them hard time by being very rude, sarcastic and unprofessional. Once again I would like to clarify that the man who checked me in has nothing to do with the one who behaved...
Read more@Jimmy… I hope you are doing well… I have always enjoyed my time visiting the BH and catching up with those working. For example a few years ago bringing by some boxes of sweets for the staff on Pride as a thank you or meeting my ex Gustavo… Unfortunately this past pride the staff who were working were no where near as pleasant and friendly as other times I have visited. I completely understand that Pride Saturdays are very busy but it doesn’t excuse rude staff (especially Mario regardless of him being new)… for example: upon entering the steam room I hung my towel on the hooks outside the door (that’s there purpose right?) on exiting the steam room someone had taken my towel (through no fault of my own). For health purposes I requested another towel and explained the situation to Mario… he point blankly refused to listen to my story, gave a condescending attitude and charged me money for the towel. I have never ever had that happen before considering all the times I have visited…. My strong suggestion- put back on Dessie, Conor, Gary and other staff members who know familiar faces…. This past experience left a sour taste in my mouth… there has to be some level of trust and appreciation towards customers… By the way best of luck with the renovations… hope to come back and see the finished...
Read moreAfter living in Holland for a few years, visited many saunas in Europe, this is definitely in my top 5. Its spacious and offers just about everything. It could however do with a nice large hamman and larger sauna, is there enough space?Never had a problem with other people visiting there and have had some very nice experiences. Preferring to hook up with 50+, weekday afternoons is a nice time to meet them ( is there another day/time that 50+ frequent too??). Pity there aren't more saunas similar to Boilerhouse in Ireland. For me its a 2 hour journey up to the sauna but normally worth it. Staff are friendly, area is clean. Update June 25: what has happened, last 2 visits and the jacuzzi is still closed, the sauna roof leaks and the steamroom is nearly fully dark. No entry price reduction to compensate or free beverage. So sad to see this rapid decline. Update 11th October 25: How long does it take to fix a jacuzzi?? Still not operational. Such a pity. For those travelling through Europe: I recommend NZ in Amsterdam and Rive Droite in...
