Roberta’s! This is the second time I’ve been here now.

Let’s start with the positives: The cod (pictured) is really good

Now let me explain why I have given 1/5 stars!

Firstly: I came with my family for Sunday dinner, plus one of my friends. We got seated next to a big group of people who were screaming for an hour so that we could not hear anything of our conversations (not restaurants fault, but they should tell them to turn it down).

Secondly: We ordered 12 oysters, and I am sad to say that 4/6 people in our company got REALLY bad food poisoning. We haven’t been able to get out of bed for the last 48 hours. Also last time I came to Roberta’s the oysters tasted funny. Do you understand how bad the quality/freshness is if 4/6 people get food poisoning from 12 oysters? This implies (given some assumptions), that 8/12 oysters that night were bad unacceptable).

Thirdly: I would say that it took on average 20/25 minutes for every round of drinks to arrive. At one point, my friend ordered a hop house and I seriously think it took 30 minutes for it to arrive.

Fourthly: The service is non existent. When food arrives, there is no explanation whatsoever of what we are about to eat. They put down 3 different kind of oysters and then leave us guessing what we’re about to eat. They put down cod with a delicious sauce and different vegetables, and we have no idea what we’re putting in our mouths. We also constantly had to call waiters to our table to order more drinks. I would expect this level of service at a pub, not a restaurant marketed as fine dining.

That’s the end of my rant. If oysters wouldn’t have killed us, maybe 3/5. Big disappointment. If everything tasted like the cod, and the service was better, this could be a really...

Decor is very nice. Restaurant is spacious and the two waiting staff working were friendly. My girlfriend ordered the charcuterie board for her starter. The hummus was visibly dried at the edges and moved as one clump. Carrot, celery and cucumber sticks were dried out. The only edible meat was the pepperoni, all others boasted either or both a questionable smell/ appearance. When alerted of this the waitstaff kindly and dutifully removed this from our bill. We both ordered pizzas for our main courses. I ordered mine gluten free, which was affirmed back to me by the waiter as they wrote it down. After my substandard honeyed pork starter, I was looking forward to actually satiating my hunger. To my dismay, the pizza I ordered did not come gluten free. I was served a ‘normal’ pizza. Luckily I’m not actually coeliac, just gluten intolerant- and at this point I was past the point of caring what I ate, so I decided not to bother anyone with this grievance, since the venue was obviously understaffed anyway. However, negligence like this cannot be accepted in the food and drink industry. Allergens and intolerances need to be taken very seriously. There is nothing more to add, really. If I had been highly allergic, I could have died. There’s no room for error when taking orders like this. It was a disappointing meal overall. However the waiter was lovely and I don’t want to name and shame them, since they were clearly doing the jobs of 3 other people who management could have done with having working that night. So thank you to them, they were very nice, and thank you for taking the charcuterie board off the bill, but the allergen ‘mistake’ with my meal can be deadly to others, so whatever went wrong there needs to...

I was shocked to have such a bad experience at Roberta’s last night!!! One of my favourite restaurants, which I visit frequenty and even hosted my birthday there only last year.

The service was shocking, when we entered I noticed two groups that were being very loud and as I wanted to have a conversation with the person that joined me for dinner I asked if we could be sat elsewhere. I was told no and the only other option would be to sit at the bar.

The first waiter was polite and brought us water and menus and took our order as we knew what we wanted. This was the only jug of water we got for the night and the only time I seen that waiter again was on my way out. We had to call another waiter to ask where the charcuterie board was after 20 minutes and when it arrived it had no cheese 🤣 It was only half way through I asked if the other person had helped themselves to the cheese and when they said no that I realised we had just paid for an overpriced plate of dips and carrot/celery sticks.

Nobody came over to ask if we needed anything and after our pizzas were dropped off we ate them and once again had to chase a waiter down to ask for the bill.

This was the least of our worry’s as the noise in the restaurant was on par with that of Croke park hosting an all Ireland final. When we got the bill the waiter couldn’t hear me and I asked him was he surprised, he also expressed his frustration with the noise yet it was allowed continue.

From the casual consumption of cocaine at the urinals to the shocking service, I was extremely disappointed by my experience at Roberta’s last night. I am honestly shocked at this as I have never had an experience like...

We booked for 1230H lunch, and bec of traffic we kept calling before before 1230 to let them know we will be late but no answer which is fine maybe bec they r busy. We arrived 1315, and when we arrived, we're greeted that we were late (which we acknowledged) and told they were super busy. I understand they are busy, and so all businesses at this time of the year. It was the tone of the receptionist that made the joyfull atmosphere gone. We felt, and they didnt fail to make us feel that our presence made their busyness 'worse'. I felt 'because of you, things go really bad. When the server went to our table to take orders, her 1st line of words were ' I hope you guys are ready to order are we are really busy'. And I said, we'll jz go for appetizers and drinks if its too much for them. So we did. At the end, the server said, 'oh you have to get at least a main otherwise ill move you to the bar'. This server is mental. The whole place was mental. Our food were served at 1350, and was asked to pay the bill at 1410. Talking about munching in everything quickly. Maybe the table was reserved for another booking after then, but we know they keep taking walk ins, clearly they have enough table to let us sit for more minutes. But here we are. So it was a lesson learned for us. Either come early, or come in late and face the rude and unprofessional attitudes of the staff and the consequence of it. Easily one star for the whole experience, but ill give them another star for the kitchen. So bad we have to rush the nice food.

Wasn't 3* I would score it as 3.5* but as I can't, I would say it's closer to 3 then to 4 unfortunately Reason for that would be that we had few small issues with waiters not understanding us what we wanted clearly. My wife get wrong drink and reply from waiter was that she wasn't clear enough what she wanted. No offer was done to replace the drink free of charge or even to charge the new one. Second incident was, one of our friends he asked waiter how much is this drink and point to the drink he was asking for, waiter said let me check that for you and he went and bring the drink to us even without us ordering it, again same response we weren't clear enough, when simple questions was asked how much is it,not can we get another one. For paying end of the night €28 for tips that we couldn't choose and it was mandatory, I would expect to have perfect service, then tip would have sense. I honestly think that would be an issue of really loud music in dining table part,as we barely were able to talk across the table. There was 8 of us and we couldn't have normal conversation for my wife birthday just with the person besides you. Food was decent, was expected bit more from pizza as Italy is famous about good pizza. So slightly disappointed on that part,as the middle of my pizza was almost like a soup and it was hard to eat it, as pizza is meant to eat - with hands. I would come back again to give another chance and try other type of food
