Came in at a busy Friday afternoon to be greeted by a lovely waitress who took took us to our seat and took our order, the place seemed packed so we knew we might need to wait awhile, we received our drinks quickly, but the story changed when we had to wait for our food. After 40mins of waiting and seeing other people receive their food who weren't there before we came in we inquired about our starter which still hasn't come in all that time, one of the waitresses went to check on it as told us it was coming, no apology given for the long wait, and that time we just assumed out order wasn't put in because 10mins later our starter finally arrived of boneless chicken wings which you could just call chicken nuggets as what we got definitely didn't take 50mins to make, then another 20mins later we received our share platter of pulled pork, brisket, ribs, wings and beans with fries. The ribs were okay, the wings I really enjoyed, but everything else was not worth the wait at all, especially with the fact that everything we got was cold apart from the beans and the wings, the sauce was already congealed like it was sitting on the meats for a while. After finishing our mostly cold meal we weren't asked how everything was and presented with a €63 bill, we were finally out of Smokin Bones after nearly 2 hours of being there and we won't be back. I'm more than guaranteed there is much better places for a better price and customer service around the centre of Dublin waiting to...
Read moreIt's with regret that I'm leaving this review. I've been to this smokin bones a number times and the staff have always been lovely, welcoming, accommodating and the food has always been lovely but I'm not sure have they experienced a change in management because it was completely different last night. Some of the staff were lovely but it felt like from others they wanted us off the tables from not long after we were there. On our order we asked to specifically leave pieces out of the burger and it arrived with it in the burger. We had no napkins had to go to another table to get it. The wings weren't as nice as they usually were. They were trying to take the food a number of times before we were finished. Then asked us a number of times if we wanted the bill even though there were empty tables and no queue. Firstly we were still having drinks and wanted to get a dessert which we then got, then another asked if we wanted the bill again after I just received another drink I said no we are having drinks and she responded "what?" And I repeated we are in the middle of our drinks and she walked off. Finally on the 4th time of being asked if we want our bill by 4 different servers even though we were still only half way through our drinks we said yeah. Then when I went to pay and didn't leave a tip because of all of this the girl wouldn't even talk to me or say goodbye!! Such a pity because I loved this place always went and recommended to friends. I...
Read moreWell, we came here for a late lunch and we were so hungry we took the first restaurant near our hostel. The venue is pretty nice, with wood everywhere and cosy tables. We ordered chickens wings with the homemade bbq sauce and a brisket with the award winning sauce, onions rings and bbq baked beans.
The brisket was really good, super tender and the sauce was tasty. It was sweet, a little bit spicy (but not too much) and smoked. We enjoyed it even if the portion was super small.
The onion rings were nice, crispy on the outside but still soft inside. The beans were, in my opinion, not good. They were undercooked and still hard, and the barbecue sauce was so sweet it was difficult to finish.
The chicken wings were also too sweet. The barbecue sauce was too powerful, and the meat was just cooked (not grilled) and tossed in the sauce. I don't know if all of the chicken wings are like that in Ireland but I prefer the version when the sauce became a little sticky because it has reduced. It create a real osmosis with the dish that I didn't have here. I also prefer it when the chicken's skin is a little bit grilled since I find it more flavorful.
The meal was quite pricy, 17€ for a little bit of brisket, 4 onion rings and two tablespoon of beans. However, the meat (without sauce) was really good. It kinda spoil it to put that much sauce in there.
The review is not really good but the staff was very nice and we still enjoyed our meal since it was...
