I'm not one for writing bad reviews but on this occasion,  i felt that i had to. I had been keen to try silk road cafe and visited for a week day early lunch. I ordered the falafel & salad plate and a small milk coffee. On tasting the coffee, I felt that it was very sub par. I politely told the waitress that i didn't like it and asked if she would mind replacing it with a tea instead. The waitress said that she would ask for me. Shortly afterwards, a stern faced, matronly barista confronted me at my table, asking me what was the problem. I calmly told her that 'I didn't like the coffee". Truth be told it tasted like dish water and I had just paid e2.85 for a small cup of it. She then accused me of having drank half the cup already.  What actually happened was that the liquid in the cup was about 1cm down from the brim. I had tasted the coffee and then taken a second sip to confirm as I wanted to be sure before sending it back. I didn't take my action lightly. She then gruffly said that she would have a tea sent out to me. Not to sound melodramatic,  but I was physically shaken by this encounter.  Sending the coffee back was certainly not a personal slight to the barista, it may have been an anomaly,  I don't know,  I just know that i wasn't satisfied with it. When the waitress brought out my tea I told her that the barista had been very rude to me and I intended on writing a bad review. She didn't say anything. At this point,  had they made amends in any way or proffered an apology, I wouldn't have written the review but unfortunately that didn't happen. It is precisely because of this kind of response that people don't complain in restaurants. People are afraid that if they complain they will be treated badly and the whole experience will be ruined,  this is precisely what happened to me, I was accused of being a cheat by an egotistical barista! Anyway, aside from the service, the food was lovely, the salads were fresh & delicious. The environment was...

Terrible service! The waiter was rude to our group and told us to take care of our business. Two of girls were eating their cakes that they bought in the cafe, and they even couldn’t finish their meal before we’re expelled. There were NOBODY waiting to be served or seat. There were NO REASON for the waiter talk to us like that. I hope this review reach the manager and that he talks with the staffs to be more polite to the costumers. We haven’t been rude to no one.

REPLY: That's no excuse to be ignorant to us! We weren't bothering anyone and we would soon leave the place to continue our journey. You guys suck and you still think you're right. The worst cafe ever.

REPLY 2: Two girls who were in our group were your customers and you just kicked everyone out of there. One of them even couldn't finish eating the cake she bought because she was so offended. again, you guys suck and as long as you keep treating people like this, you will never be good. I wish you are treated the same way...

rude staff make you feel bad, they also make the worst coffee in dublin . *also there is nothing wrong with me buying a meal from somewhere else and getting coffee from you.I did not treat your staff rudely , the person who was rude to me was one of your chefs working in the kitchen using their hands to say get out of here . Instead of communicating with me verbally, you rudely used your body language so that you can get out from here. The staff who came for the second time warned my brother in a polite way, there is nothing wrong with him. but whoever gave us the first warning i really think there is a problem with communication. also boiling the milk, pouring it into the glass and then pouring the espresso over the milk does not make it coffee and these prices do not deserve it. Please be clear and I hope you find a solution to your problems asap . anyway , don't take it personal , critique is a...

My friend treated me to afternoon tea here while she was visiting from abroad. She had booked/paid in advance. When we arrived, I was initially unsure about the very ordinary tables at a cafe. Once we said we had a reservation, we were whisked to a special table that was prepared to a while other level for afternoon tea. I told the team that I was dairy intolerant (new information) and they had to pivot with the food being already cooked for us. In mere minutes they had adjusted my dishes and were explaining which desserts were for me and where they had taken dairy out of the middle eastern food for me. Portions were hefty and we needed to take some food home. It was delicious and felt like good value for money.

I recently (June 2023) used the "Silk Road Cafe" within the museum to host an afternoon tea as part of a baby shower for a friend. The location is central, has nearby public transport and car parking. The waitress assigned to us was very friendly and accommodating. They explained what each menu item we were served was, took photos and made conversation. The food was beautiful and each guest was offered a Tupperware at the beginning to bring extras home. While arranging it with the venue via email I found the staff helpful, supportive and accommodating. The pricing was exceptionally competitive at €30 per head (with no alcohol). The table settings were eclectic and charming.
