We recently had the opportunity to dine at the Grayson and we were extremely disappointed in the overall experience. We booked a table for 7 as a pre-Christmas catch-up brunch. The food was decent so we cannot fault the chef but the front-of-house waiters, waitress and manager were extremely cold, unwelcoming, and very unpleasant to deal with.
We had booked our table for 2pm, we were informed at 3.30 that the restaurant needed the table back for 4pm which was fine and we decided to order a last round of drinks before we left knowing that 30 minutes was more than enough time for this. My glass of wine tasted/smelled off and I commented that I didn't believe this was a Sauvignon Blanc like I had ordered, my question was disregarded and I was rudely told 'It is a Sauv Blanc' without a chance for further comment. I needed to bring this up with a second waiter who then kindly replaced it for me. The bottle had clearly turned and shouldn't have been served in the first place. This was a minor hiccup along the dining trail until it came to 15 minutes before the table was needed back. We were very urgently rushed from our seats without an alternative option to sit elsewhere or even finish our drinks in the lobby.
The bill still needed to be settled at this point, in our haste to pay up, splitting the bill among 7 of us we made the mistake of splitting the total bill 6 ways instead of 7 (meaning we all paid about 10 euro more than we needed to) the waiter did not correct us on the miscalculation and proceeded to take our separate payments. We made sure to double-check and ask that all was paid correctly before we left the table and the waiter informed us that one left person was left to pay which we then left cash for that person. In the overall confusion and hurry we overpaid by approx 70 euro, not a huge overpayment but considering we were not happy with the service and the tip had already been applied to the bill as a service charge this was an extra hard kick in the teeth.
The next day I called the Grayson and spoke to a lady Monica or Monique. I explained what had happened re our overcharge in the hope that this would give this establishment a chance to redeem itself. But no this was not to be....I was promised a callback, I did not get this call back. I then called a number of times again, my number not being answered as I was clearly getting the runaround, but when calling from a new number this was conveniently picked up. Again I was promised a call back from the manager and this didn't happen!
My poor review is now based on the terrible customer service that I experienced, even if we had been told there was nothing that could be done after the overpayment had been made this would have been better than ghosting my calls. Such a very disappointing way to treat customers from an establishment that appears to provide the best of the best. I will not be returning or recommending it to any friends or family. Do not visit if you're looking for genuine, quality service with a smile.
Update: Front of house staff should have my number noted if they had intended to call me back but I will forward on again...
Read moreWe had a dinner party here for six with some American colleagues who were over in Dublin for a week. Firstly, the building is absolutely beautiful: a real piece of Georgian heritage, lovingly restored and beautifully furnished throughout. We were seated on the third floor at a gorgeous marble table in a peaceful room with great ambience. The building truly is an oasis in the city with an excellent location right by Stephen's Green. Secondly, let's talk about service. The staff and waiters could not have been more welcoming, friendly and polite, without being overly in-your - face. They really struck the right balance, and from the moment you arrive you're put at ease. It is a beautiful, high-class restaurant, but at no point did I detect haughtiness or snobbery, which is not unheard of in some of the more upmarket Dublin restaurants, especially if you have the gall to show up minus a Canali suit and rolex đ. These guys were attentive, friendly, helpful and genuinely nice. The restaurant manager came over to us twice to ask if everything was as we wanted. Dinner. Absolutely delicious. Beautifully presented and the wait was probably 20 minutes which we barely noticed. I had a rib-eye steak which was to-die-for, with a decadent hollandaise sauce, oven-baked crunchy greens bursting with flavour which melted in the mouth. The steak came with fries which I didn't really want but they were gorgeous! The portions were very generous and the quality of the food was outstanding, with lots of attention paid to subtle details with perfectly seasoned food, and brilliantly combined flavours. Their chef is a genius. Dessert. I ordered the chocolate delice (a popular choice it seems), and some of our party got a tart and some ice cream. The delice was the Rolls Royce option, and was incredibly good. I am no expert but I do like a dessert and to me, this could be award-winning (it certainly gets my award anyway!). In conclusion I would summarise by saying if you want excellent food and superb service in a beautiful restaurant in the heart of Dublin, bursting with class and heritage, look no further than The Grayson. If you're entertaining parties from out of town, they're sure to be impressed (our American colleagues raved about it, including the gorgeous restrooms, apparently!). Thank you for a wonderful evening and well done on running a model business you can be proud of. I will be back and I give The Grayson my full endorsement and highest...

The drinks menu at The Grayson is nothing short of exceptional. It boasts a wide variety of options, including creative cocktails, premium spirits, and an impressive wine list. The mixologists at the bar showcase their passion and skill by crafting each cocktail with precision and flair. I indulged in the Grayson Signature Old Fashioned, which was simply divine. My friends praised the Espresso Martini and the Passionfruit Margarita, both bursting with flavor and beautifully presented.
In addition to the fantastic drinks, the atmosphere at The Grayson sets it apart from other establishments. The low lighting, plush seating, and elegant surroundings create a refined yet lively setting that is perfect for catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion. The staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure that our experience was top-notch, providing excellent service and making us feel valued as guests.
