The Wild Duck Dublin — Restaurant in Dublin

Unfortunately my friends and I had a very disappointing experience here.

First of all we waited close to 1 hour to be stood at a barrel with only 1 seat(you have to be at a table or a barrel to get served). While we were waiting 2 girls skipped us and we were told by the barman that the girls were related to the owner that is why they were put ahead of us and seated as soon as they arrived.

When we finally got a seat(with the help of one kind barman) we were served quite quickly by him and he apologised to us for the wait. I believe his name was Filipo. However the other bar staff were quite rude especially one of them who was aggressive mannered and obnoxious. We were told to “shut up” by him and informed that it is a restaurant even though I have never heard a restaurant play music as loud as they were playing.

Another thing that got my concern was that there is absolutely no respect of the COVID rules on these premises. There’s no Perspex screens anywhere, the few seats they do actually have are all less than a metre away from each other and none of the staff are wearing any face coverings.

Finally the pricing is quite high and the only reason I’m not giving a 1 star rating is because the food wasn’t bad and that one barman was polite and efficient.

On Saturday night May 20, 2023, unfortunately I had one of the worst experiences with the staff at this bar. I usually go once in a while and have always been treated great, but this guy in the plaid shirt was very rude. I asked for a gin with Sevenup zero, they always serve it to me with the bottle next to it so that I can finish my drink. This guy brought me all the mix directly, I asked him where my bottle was, that I would prefer to serve myself the way he replied in very bad ways that it is done like that here (which is not true because I had already asked for that drink other times and they had always served me with the bottle next to it). I tried to explain that to the guy and he started yelling at me directly that what I thought he had done to my drink, that I was rude and that if I had asked differently maybe they would have treated me better, he started yelling at me without stop saying that I was rude. And when I went to pay he charged me more than other times asking for the same thing. My friends and I always celebrate our birthdays here, obviously we will never come back again, this type of staff who doesn't know how to treat customers should...

Whoever reads this from wild duck management i hope you take action today. We came group of 5 on 11/13/2021 around 4:30 pm. At some stage we got harrassed by the bouncer who is watching the door , big guy with belly, and letting people in. He got angry for whatever reason and started insulting people left and right using bad language for no reason !!!! This is not acceptable at any stage. We paid more than 150 euros but he came on to us while going in and out and at some stage he came on to my friend a girl and hit her with his belly and wanted to punch her for crossing next to him while going outside with a cigarete in her hand which was not on and was going outside to light it. This guy has physically and orally harrassed us and if no one actions this we will take legal action. We saw in our own eyes a customer who came back that forgot his backpack and wanted to take it. He didnt let him in and once he managed to get his bag he told him fuck off for no reason. !!!! Dear wild duck management this is not the way to treat ur customers. Shame on you and shame on whoever hired this creep to work your floors. We will never step a foot in ur...
