Ristorante Imbarcadero 1892 Como — Restaurant in Como

We were in Como in February, during “Low Season” and some of the places we’d planned to eat at were closed. One night we stopped to look at the menu. It’s the restaurant in our hotel and seemingly in a peak touristy spot, so we were apprehensive, but we were cold and tired from a full day walking and exploring. We were so glad we did! I have to eat gluten free, but they were very understanding and told me all of the options they could offer. In the end we both ordered the shrimp risotto. While we waited they brought some bread, oil, and balsamic for my son. A few moments later they brought out a little gluten free ciabatta for me, so I wasn’t completely left out. Ismael was our server and he was wonderful! Beyond the food recommendation he also made some great wine suggestions, letting us try a bit to decide. He was very fun and friendly and they were so good with the service. But the risotto. OMG! It was luscious! The creamy texture, subtle lemon, and shrimp were perfect. This was the most horrible experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant, DO NOT EAT HERE. Me and my mom sat down for a drink and some pizzas , but we had to hurry up because we were on a time limit and the pizzas weren’t going to make it out on time. Before they brought them out i asked the waiter to cancel the pizzas and let me only pay for the drinks we had , he said he did not speak English, which was a lie because he later understood what i meant and brought them to the table anyway. As soon as they brought them i asked them to take them away because there was no time and they took them away. When i went to pay he said since they were already partially in the oven when i asked them to cancel i would have to pay for the meal as well , even though we never touched them or had them at the table for longer then a second. When i refused they threatened to call the police multiple times , “because I’m black” . In all they made me pay for the whole meal or i woulda went to jail . Never go here !
