Vintage Jazz Food & Wine — Restaurant in Como

We visited Vintage Jazz during our few days in Como, booking it to celebrate a birthday.

We were initially curious about the live Jazz advertised, as this was part of our selection process. While there wasn't a live performance on this occasion, we enjoyed the Jazz music played through the speakers. They do advertise live Jazz for other nights, including the following evening.

Being lucky enough to visit Como in April with temperatures in the late 70s, we chose to sit outside. The lovely outdoor seating area provided a pleasant ambiance. However, the interior of the restaurant looked very chic, and I wouldn't have been disappointed to dine inside if the weather had been inclement.

The meal itself was superb. The pasta dish I had was incredibly flavourful and the pizza's were divine and the Tiramisu was to die for, the overall quality of the food was very high. However, for me, the staff truly made the evening special.

Although English wasn't their native language, they were laughing and joking with us and went out of their way to make a real fuss of the birthday girl in our party of four. From the moment we arrived we were warmly greeted, their attentiveness and good humour shone through. The staff made it a very memorable occasion, and the fact that the food was so good only enhanced our experience.

If you are staying in Como and are unsure where to eat, I would highly recommend...

Appalling! Booked a table outside on the day time for the night 7pm. We arrived only to be told " no outside tables" we were the 1st evening booking! Ok so we sat inside. Nice setting and very busy place. Thats the positive out the way ... we were sat at table then left for ages, we had to signal for drinks, 2 prosecos...waited ages, then they arrived, 20mins later the "complimentary snacks that come WITH the drinks arrived separately " 1 hour later we had to signal to order food! The food came..." oh dear" freezing cold food..and small portions , my Husband ate his because he was hungry and i sent mine back. The front of house were very apologetic and sent it back...now heres the worst bit.... It came back 15 minutes later...it had been scraped off my plate slung together in a pile and microwaved within an inch of its life....tut tut!!...now you may think im some type of moaning rat bag but infact i am the complete opposite...but this had to be mentioned especially when the prices are unjustifiable and there was no sign of " making it right" or free drinks or not charging for that particular dish...like i said...

Waited 10min to be seated, as waiters were running around disorganised (my fault, should have left after 1 min)

When finally given a table -I've asked for prosecco... was served wine -Said fine, leave the white wine, will go with my tuna (what I planned to order), bring a prosecco please -They took the wine, brought prosecco tuna arrived (average) after finishing prosecco I asked if I can have wine (planning to ask which kind they have...)... they run away... came back with a glass of "white wine"... when asked which wine is it they said "white"... it was prosecco... again I said ok, leave it, I'm ok with prosecco and really don't wanna waste more time... asking "PLEASE, espresso & the bill" the bill arrived immediately... had to ask what happened to coffee... was told "the bill is there"

Anyhow...I've paid... they brought coffee "on the house" (which I didn't touch) I didn't want or expect anything on the house and would be happy to leave extra just for a decent service... this is below...
