If you look at my profile I rarely, if ever give bad reviews.
We spent 10 days Italy from Rome to Siena and now Florence. This is the worst meal we have ever had for so many reasons. We reserved a table because of the reviews. But we were sat in front of the door we asked very politely to be moved they said no but put heater above us on which made no difference.
We did not want to spend £100 on steak if we was made rare we had a long conversation with our waiter and said we did not want order a stake of served rare. He replied if we ordered any form of steak it could come medium at least, he also said that the meat is served on a hot plates so that the meat could be done more. Our steak arrived Blue/raw and the hot plate stays hot for a minimum of 2-3 minutes not enough to cook the meat anymore.
Also the steak itself had little to no flavour and very chewy. To be truthful after eating many steak in Italy/ London and Portugal this was the worst steak we have ever ordered.
The steak we ate was mostly blue/rare the table we had was in front of the door. The waiters care more about getting people into the restaurant than those sat in the restaurant.
After 10 days in Italy this in this only meal we did not enjoy at all. Judging by previous reviews I believe it is possible to have a good time & meal here however our was met with poor service, poor food and very expensive bill. Finally out of all the restaurants we’ve been to in Italy this lack the atmosphere and authentic feel. After our experience and all the restaurants in Florence we would not recommend here.
The positives is that wine selection is good the sides are good and the restaurant is pretty and without ordering the expensive meats/steak. The pastas and other dishes looked lovely. I think this restaurant is all about The luck of where you are sat, what your order and who serves you. We felt very unlucky and disappointed in are visit and if are concerns and issues had been resolved properly and truthfully we would have had a much...
Read moreI would advise caution if you’re an American visiting here. We came for lunch, and the food was absolutely delicious. However, there was an issue with the English menu—one of the pasta dishes was listed as vegetarian, but it wasn’t. I mistakenly ordered it, thinking it was meat-free, only to realize halfway through that it wasn’t. When I asked the waiter about it, he explained the misprint and sincerely apologized. He was very kind, removed the item from the bill without us asking, and even offered us a $10 gift card as a gesture of goodwill. We appreciated his kindness and had a lovely lunch overall.
Since we were leaving the next day, we returned later for dessert and mentioned we had the gift card. Unfortunately, the service was completely different this time. The waiter was dismissive and rude when we ordered, and the patrons next to us even laughed when we asked about a dessert that was out of stock. When we tried to use our gift card, we were told it could only be applied to bills up to $30, which wasn’t mentioned to us prior. The waiter seemed uninterested and rushed us through the process, so we ended up paying the full amount, which wasn’t a huge issue, but the experience left a sour note.
It seems like the service can vary greatly depending on who you get. Despite speaking fluent Italian (which they didn’t catch, ha), I couldn’t help but feel that there was some discomfort with American customers. It’s a shame because our initial experience was...
Read moreI just had an amazing meal at Trattoria Boboli, and I can’t stop raving about it! Tucked away near the Boboli Gardens, this cozy trattoria delivered on every front – fantastic food, warm atmosphere, and friendly service. We ordered the mixed vegetables, chicken Caesar salad, and cacio e pepe, and every dish was a delight. The mixed vegetables were fresh, vibrant, and perfectly seasoned, showcasing the quality of local produce. The chicken Caesar salad was a standout – crisp romaine, tender grilled chicken, and a creamy, tangy dressing that hit all the right notes. It felt like a perfect balance of indulgent and refreshing. But the star of the show was the cacio e pepe – the pici pasta was cooked to perfection, coated in a creamy, peppery sauce with just the right amount of Pecorino Romano. It was simple yet absolutely divine, and I savored every bite. The staff (Valentino) were attentive and made us feel right at home, which added to the overall charm of the place. The intimate setting, with its classic Tuscan vibes, made it the perfect spot to unwind after exploring Florence. Prices were reasonable for the quality, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. If you’re near the Pitti Palace or Boboli Gardens, don’t miss this gem – it’s a must for authentic Florentine...
