Vegia Zena felt immediately promising. The restaurant was buzzing with happy customers, and the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen was definitely a good sign of what was to come. We were greeted with genuine warmth by the staff and promptly shown to our table. The owner, Andy, made us feel particularly welcome when he came over for a chat. Eager to experience authentic Genoan flavors, we asked for his recommendations. His suggestions were spot on: the fried breaded anchovies for a starter were a delightful crispy treat, and the mandilli pasta al pesto was simply outstanding – the pesto was truly something special, bursting with fresh, vibrant flavors. Not wanting the culinary journey to end there, we decided to sample the fritto misto. This mixed fried fish dish, sourced directly from the daily fish market, was another excellent choice – the fish was fresh and perfectly fried. To conclude our delightful lunch, we enjoyed a fantastic coffee accompanied by a smooth "Don Papa" Rum. Vegia Zena is a gem! I can't wait for my next visit to Genova so I can experience their wonderful food and hospitality again. Andy Grazie Mille per...
Read moreWe expected to have really good seafood and especially good fried calamari but the food was below average. The food tasted bland and it wasn’t good at all. After reviewing their Google reviews we went there but it was disappointing. Also, the location is so shady and you have local drug dealers in front of the restaurant hanging out and during our stay at their terrace, they started to fight, I understand it wasn’t the restaurant who caused the issue but they could have called the police instead of a customer calling it and the waiter just looking around. The surrounding of the restaurant was so hostile we didn’t feel comfortable eating there. Better to find alternative...
Read moreWe loved this restaurant, and everything we had here was simply amazing. The lobster noodles were reasonably priced considering the quantity, and the grilled calamari was so amazing!! Cooked perfectly with the right amount of smokiness!! Even our desserts (tiramisu & creme brulee) were so good. Considering everything we had (1 appetizer + 3 mains + 2 desserts + 1/2 litre of wine), we felt that it was a really good deal (paid 70 euros in total). It gets quite busy and sometimes it’s hard to get the service staff’s attention, but I cannot recommend this place enough! in fact, i’m pretty sure we’ll be back again before we...
