The waiter was crooked by and charged my friend and I $14 EACH for grappa without telling us what the price was when we asked about the grappa in the first place. The waiter told me as I was leaving "I hope you won't leave us a bad review" and I'm like bro you just made the worst call of your career (or your waiter-ing career has been a complete flop this whole time) so....yeah bad review incoming. He's making the claim he had the right to charge us this this because it "wasn't on the menu" and I'm like well if it's not on the menu then maybe don't serve it or tell us how much it costs. I pointed out to this very special individual at the time, too, that he didn't tell us that it was going to be that much, which is AT THE LEAST a courtesy. It wouldn't have been the only way he got a tip (as I'm sure he pocketed the difference) but I guess he needed the money badly. Luxury dining prices with McDonald's quality, shame because the evening started out so promising, but the female bartender left and that made it a man's world with single female diners. Poor dude is just sad to be going home alone after he heard I was single. Worst experience in my 7 weeks of vacation. Enjoy and by the way congratulations because you're the first waiter in 7 weeks that has actually charged me for grappa. Everyone else has just been excited to share their culture but you saw dollar signs. What goes around comes around, son. At least I'm not you. Maybe just do an honest business, it's not that hard actually.
Ooohhh wait it got better the owner left a nasty derogatory comment on my review on TripAdvisor. Yeah, avoid this awful excuse for...
Read moreWe went to Pane Vino on the recommendation of a friend. I had been warned to watch out for the prices, as it’s known to be an expensive place… and I have to say, I was definitely surprised when I got the bill. A half bottle of bollicine wine cost €34—and it wasn’t even that great.
I usually order wine by the bottle to save money rather than buying it by the glass. In this case, though, if I had ordered three glasses (roughly the same amount as a half bottle), it actually would have been cheaper. So definitely check the prices before you order to avoid the same surprise I had.
That said, the food was really good, and the staff were friendly and had a great sense of humor. Still, for a weekday lunch, €99 felt like a lot, especially considering many places nearby offer lunch sets from Monday to Friday.
The risotto and the starter we had were excellent, I’ll give them that. But the €3 cover charge felt a bit steep, and a simple espresso for €2.50 also seemed overpriced.
You can definitely find similar quality food in the area at more reasonable prices, so while the experience was enjoyable, I’d just say go in aware of...
Read moreThe welcome appetizer included a little bit of salad and a Falafel (???). Salad tasted like from the Discounter and the falafel was cold.
As an appetizer we ordered a mix of cheese and speck/mortadella. The ingredients sweated and also tasted like from the discounter. The Rucola wasn't fresh at all
We got some bread as a side on our table which was old (hard and tasted like a brick)
Main dish 1x Cacio e Pepe, 1x Tagliatelle with Steak and truffle. Cacio e Pepe was okay but could be better. The tagliatelle never arrived at our table, instead we got some steak stripes from the discounter which hasn't seen salt and pepper at all. The meat was FULL OF CHEAP OLIVE OIL (plate was full of olive oil) which we think was there to cover the low quality of the meat. We ordered it medium and it was extremely medium rare.
After all that multiple other guests were leaving after their appetizer (restaurant was almost empty then), we ordered a coffee which came after we asked a second time. The coffee was very sour (not strong,...
