We ate here on June 11and it was the worst dining experience we have ever! We are American and no one would wait on us, and they finally served our food without our water or wine. We went a hour and half without anything to drink.
We walked in. We said 2, please and she nodded her head. In the mean time anyone else that walked in got seated right away, we waited 20-25 minutes , still waiting with tables open. We asked again and finally got seated. Then no one would wait on us, they wouldn’t even look at us, people that came in after us had their drinks, water and some food. We finally get a guy that asked for a order 30 minutes later. We ordered food, still water and 2 glasses of white wine. We wait and wait for our wine and water, nothing, then they bring the food with no water and wine, we ask the server can we please get our water and wine. Still no drinks half hour later and our food is gone and we are very thirsty. I get up and go to the bar asking for our 2 glasses of wine but he wouldn’t give it to us said he’ll tell the waiter. But no…. Everyone is ignoring us, the waiter wont look at us, we are just humiliated and want our bill and to leave this very uncomfortable situation. I then get up again and go to the bartender again( distinctive looking man , might be a owner, tall thin and very long bearded face), I tell him, never mind on the wine and water just give me the check so we can leave, ( it now has been a hour and a half, we ate all our food and no water or wine yet) then he loudly grabs 2 wine glasses, a bottle of wine and briskly walks to my table( everyone is watching, this was ridiculously embarrassing), Pours a pour for me to taste, I say its fine and he walks away. Then after this , we still couldn’t get our check for almost a hour. We felted trapped and couldn’t leave because we had to pay but they wouldn’t give us our bill. They were ignoring us because we were American. All the staff was rude, even the hostess, mouthed “NO” and turned away like she better not help us.
We had been in Italy and dined in 15 different cities in 3 and 1/2 weeks and we hosted 70 people in Tuscany for 4 days for our daughters wedding. We love Italy and the food and typically people are kind. We will tell everyone that we know that plans to go to Italy about this experience in Palermo.
That experience was humiliating and scary. We were the only people not speaking italian in the restaurant and feel the service was based on only because we were American. We are a older couple, we are friendly, smile and are kind. We are not loud and obnoxious Americans.🤷🏼♀️ This made me so sad to have this experience and it was very eye Opening! We have traveled to Italy many times, my daughter lived in Florence for a while! It is so sad your staff treated...
Read moreThe owner of the restaurant was really nice. He explained how they grew vegetables themselves and even made wine. The wine he recommended was really nice and I had high hopes for the food. Unfortunately, the food was really disappointing. We ordered octopus for our starter which was actually quite nice. The tomato sauce was fresh and the octopus wasn’t tough or rubbery as can sometimes be the case. The main dishes tasted really badly though. The pasta with green sauce and raw prawns was hardly edible I’m sorry to say. The sauce tasted like blended grass with raw prawns which just gave the sauce an unpleasant fishy taste. I never tasted pasta that was this bad. The other dish (the cod) was not much better. I think it was poached and frankly speaking very bland. It came with sweet puree and asparagus with lemon preserve (which was bitter and overpowering). The whole flavour combination seemed a bit random and to me a bit off. I loved the owners passion but I think the dishes need some work (maybe we were unfortunate with our dish selection). We left hungry and...

There was no one waiting for a table but they made us wait and then they were seating Italians before us. Once we got seated we waiting a half hour to place an order while the Italians seated after us had their drinks. We attempted a dozen times to get someone to look at us, the staff were all ignoring us. We ordered food, water and 2 glasses of wine. Our food came with no water and wine, and I asked for it again.Thirty minutes later I asked the bar tender for our wine, still didn’t get it and our food was gone. 30 minutes later( 1 1/2 hours without wine or water) I asked the bartender for our bill minus the wine and water and he rudely grabbed 2 glasses and wine went to my table, I followed, poured my wine and everyone was watching, it was humiliating. Then they made us wait over a hour again to give us our bill. BEWARE, WE FELT CAPTIVE IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY...
