One of the best meals of my life - not the ‘fanciest’, but one of the best. Unpretentious, authentic cooking where the main emphasis is on flavour. A family of four (two adults and two teen girls), we ordered two antipasti (which were huge - more of a sharing plate than the tiddly small serving i was expecting based on the usual UK fare), two primis (tartufo & parmesan spaghetti and ravioli & ragu), and then.. the Bistecca a la Fiorentina (called something else on the menu- but it was the top row on the menu for ~€50). We ordered one between 4 of us. WOW! Perfectly caramelized, crispy and salted to perfection … just so good! It was too much food for us and if we come back to Pisa, we’ll order less - but still the bistecca. Service was attentive but not overbearing and never rushed. Remarkably, husband and one daughter had space for dessert! Tiramisu - also wonderful. Highly recommend. It’s popular, though. So get there early or book if you can.

We’d like to share our first dinner experience in Pisa, Italy. Tonight, we originally planned to have steak, and everything started off smoothly — we had made an online reservation in advance and were seated without any issues. The overall space was a bit cramped, but we were very satisfied with the quality of the food. The T-bone steak was excellent, and the beef tartare was truly unforgettable — one of the best we’ve had. The black truffle egg dish also left a strong impression; it was rich and flavorful. We didn’t post any photos of dessert — not because we didn’t want any, but because we had an unpleasant experience. We didn’t expect that even in Italy, we’d be rushed through a meal. Before we had a chance to ask about dessert, the bill was handed to us with a note that people were waiting outside. It felt rushed and a bit disappointing. The service definitely has room for improvement.

Lovely spot recommended by B&B Di Camilla (also recommend) on Via del Mille. Lots of people having the classic Bifteca Florentina but we opted for other offerings. Started with a tasty beef tartare with foie gras, carmelized onions, Marsala reduction and black truffle. For secondi, we had the beef filet with foie gras and black summer truffle accompanied by a contorni of grilled vegetables. Desert was the Choco Ball - sphere of dark chocolate filled with Madagascar vanilla ice cream on a brownie with passion fruit reduction. This they topped with a warm white chocolate sauce. Topped it off with a nice espresso. Marco was great, the atmosphere perfect with a mix of locals and tourists. Highly recommend. And yes, the Bifteca Fiorentina looked fantastic.

We were sat down by a waiter who then disappeared without giving us menus for 10 minutes. When we did get to order, we were served cheese that was sweating (it must have been sitting out quite a while) and the bread was bone dry and tasteless. The waiter forgot to notify the kitchen of our second course which meant a long wait between courses. Whilst we were waiting for our second course, a group of ladies politely asked if they could sit for some drinks and the waiter rudely berated them - he said this is where you eat food, not just sit with a drink, go somewhere else if you only want a drink. I would think any custom is good custom and even if they require people to order food, there’s nicer ways of speaking to people.

The tomato pasta was honestly awful - barely any sauce and no seasoning. To end the meal, we ended up going inside to pay after failing for 10 minutes to catch any waiters attention. All the waiters were bouncing around like they were messing around with their mates, shouting and joking across the tables.

All in all, a bad experience and won’t be recommending anyone...
