Gelate rio La Spezia — Restaurant in Riomaggiore

I’ve been to this gelateria 3 times over two days and every time has been excellent.

The entitlement of people to just expect staff to know and speak English is astounding. We as tourists are visitors and therefore should at least be willing to do the bare minimum in learning the basics of the local language.

I’ve found the staff here very friendly and helpful each time. I try to call things by their Italian name, greet and thank in Italian, and chain together basic sentences, all of which google translate can teach you in a matter of minutes.

2022sep11 15:00pm both crew members were sulky & unfriendly. Perhaps business is just too good for this tourist trap on a hot afternoon & everyone getting off the train hopingtoget something cold & refreshing. Unfortunately in addition to the gelato, we also get a cold unhospitable treatment. The tables in front of the gelataria are reserved for Bar Centrale but they don't forewarn that gelato is for takeaway only.

This is the first bad review I'm writing, but it really has to be. I was very disappointed with the food. It was late at first and then my stake was done and that of my husband was well rare, even though we both ordered well done. We complained and then the waiter said that both are well done. I then said how it can be that one stake is bloody and the other is brown. so he just walked away. The value for money is not justified when I think what a wonderful stake I had for the same...
