Gelateria Sottozero — Restaurant in Riomaggiore

Wonderful little place. The owner was very kind and patient and helped us make our choices. The gelato was very smooth and delicious, not the fake overly colorful stuff you may see other places. Very nice and well done. The granitas were decent, you choose from a dozen flavors and they make them there using flavored syrups. The location is great with a few little tables that overlook the marina, so you can cool down coming into or getting out of the village. We had ours at night and spent a long time watching the stars right around the bend where it’s a Bit darker and star gazing is at its best. My husband had never seen the Milky Way...

We went as a group and tried nine flavors between us. Every one was outstanding and tasted like the fresh real ingredient (melon, strawberry, lemon, etc). The creamy flavors were delicious as well. Even the Nutella flavor wasn't too heavy. The only downside was that it's a small place on a narrow popular street, and there are very few places to sit nearby. The view is spectacular...

Pessima esperienza e a dir poco raccapricciante. Sono entrato verso le 23 per acquistare due birre fresche e il proprietario mi ha chiesto se volessi che me le aprisse, e ho risposto di sì. Successivamente gli ho chiesto se fosse possibile pagare con la carta (domanda di cortesia dato che PER LEGGE dev'essere obbligatorio permettere al cliente di pagare con altri metodi che non siano i contanti) e, dopo avermi risposto di no, gli ho detto di non avere contanti. In quel momento ha iniziato a borbottare imprecando pesantemente per poi allontanarsi nel retro del negozio affermando che le birre, ormai aperte, le avrebbe bevute lui. Inizialmente siamo rimasti senza parole e confusi dal comportamento del proprietario, poi abbiamo capito con chi abbiamo avuto a che fare e abbiamo preferito andare via, senza neanche ricevere un saluto o delle scuse. Avrebbe potuto benissimo indicarci l'ATM più vicino nelle vicinanze, così da poter prelevare contanti, oppure scusarsi e non darci le birre, e gli avremmo anche fatto un favore, data l'obbligatorietà del POS. Non ci tornerò mai più, non solo per il trattamento ricevuto ma anche per il timore che mi incute il...
