"Hey." You cry out in wonder. "Why is the cruelest, most acid-tongued reviewer on the Internet giving this unassuming little Spanish Steps area bistro a full five stars?"

And I would answer if I weren't so insulted at your characterization of me as "the cruelest, most acid-tongued reviewer on the Internet".

Have you so quickly forgotten my five star review of The Cafe in Palazzo Barberini, which is merely a vending machine. I gave five stars to a vending machine! Well, an espresso making machine, and one of a magnetic complexity and glory, but nevertheless...

But we're not talking about the Palazzo Barberini espresso vending machine. We're talking about Grano Frutta e Farina, and about why I gave it five stars, and why you think I'm acid-tongued when I'm really not, and why I'm so defensive about it all.

I AM NOT DEFENSIVE!

Well maybe a little. Because having given my extraordinary, and rare, and sought after five star seal of approval to the sweet garden patio themed cafe/restaurant, with some pleasant light food and drinks, that I don't that clearly remember, I am not sure what I could say about Grano Frutta e Farina that would support my elaborate rating. So, um...

It was nice.

Five stars.

I was not paid for...

It's the greatest. Thats it. No contest on their pizzamaking skills. They employ 3 pizzamasters, and boy they do a fine job... The enoki mushroom, bluecheese creamsauce, ham pizza is just something to die for.... it is the kind of food guys talk about in world war trenches in movies. It is a piece of the eternal heaven waiting for those who were forgiven for their earthly sins. The pumpkin paste pizza is no laughing matter either... or is it? If you mean laughing from joy and that feeling of unexplicable urge of trying to make sense of something unbelieveably and unreasonably good. GOD this place makes good pizza. Pizza with potatoes and rosemary? Are you kidding me? Thats it? how can something this simple be as tasty as it is? Go ahead give it a try. You will love it. One more thing, it won't be cheap thats for sure. But i assure you, you will never ever eat anything that comes close to this for that money. ANd screw it! You are on holiday might as well...

Purchased two iced coffee (Caffe latte) in the large cup. The lady was lovely and very accommodating. The coffee was nice and I was charged 2.50 per coffee. I thought that was a bit pricey but acceptable. Went back the next day and ordered the same thing. A young man thought for a moment then said "7 euro". I was like... "I paid 2.50 yesterday??!!" He said "impossible. For a double espresso? Impossible!". I'm thinking... So one shot is 3.50??? Come on man! Don't be dishonest! Shame. The first experience was good, but clearly there is a mandate to try to rip off tourists. The second experience was very negative and left a bad taste...

The first day we arrived in Rome, we chose to have a snack here because it was cute and had a couple of tables outside. Unbeknownst to us, we would receive vouchers from our hotel to eat breakfast here ( included in our stay). We chose to eat here everyday since we prepaid for it, it is just Steps from our hotel, ( Plaza di Spagna Prestige), quick and delicious! It is quaint and the staff are very nice. We received a croissant, tea or coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.

The best pizza is served by the slice! It resembles focaccia bread-based pizza with a wide variety of toppings. 😋 Don’t think of traditional round pizza slices. The dough is prepared over 72 hours using unique grains sourced from northern Italy. You can enjoy the bread on its own, but the array of toppings will leave your mouth watering! This is a self-serve, carry-out establishment. Give it a try at a very reasonable price! Sami makes truly outstanding pizza dough! 🥇🙏

The best way to introduce yourself into pizza & Italian food world!!! Specifically Rome pizza with breaded base & several choices on top , salami, veggies, mushrooms, cheese ect. Negroni beer or wine, sweet or coffee!!! Service a bit fast ( fast food ) but polite! Several choices for everything!!! A pleasant break from shopping in the hart of fashion quarter in Rome!!! Enjoy
