When it comes to choosing a place for dinner in Rome, the process can give a shocking new meaning to the word "0verwhelming." In Rome, cuisine means love, and it cuts through competition like a symbolic Colosseum battle. The fight is on at the dinner table and must be approached as if the chef's life depends on it. This restaurant boasts a long historic tradition of Roman cuisine, service, ownership, and grandiose chefs. Its current location, ambiance, service, and culinary expertise continue the amazing story that started back in the 1950s.
Firstly, if you want to dine like modern Romans do, eat after 8 pm. Don't worry; you'll burn the calories during your daily walks. Secondly, take your time at dinner. It's not a competition about how fast or how much you can eat, but rather about savoring the flavors and the experience, engaging in endless conversations, and sharing laughter. For these reasons, I find it disappointing that I can't give more stars to this place because they truly deserve them—way more than 5 stars.
We arrived around 9:30 pm and were promptly and gracefully greeted by Abi. He assisted my gorgeous date to her seat and provided us with menus and time to peruse them at our convenience. Great choices for wine were offered shortly after, and our culinary journey began.
Chef Mary did an excellent job with our dinner choices, to say the least. The night was filled with antipasto, first and second courses followed by delightful desserts, coffee, and limoncello. Yet the most complementary aspect was the service. Yes, in this review, I mainly focus on the service because Endri and Abi did an outstanding job. They were not only gracefully jovial and respectful to us and everyone around, but they also went out of their way to make everyone feel like part of their family. And when I say family, I mean it because they clearly understand and focus on the dining experience, knowing they have their backs covered by Chef Mary's skilled hands in the kitchen.
You all need to experience this gem. My words do not do it justice. The aroma, the love placed in these plates, and the impeccable service make this place something truly special and unique. In my humble opinion, when you dine here, you can rest assured that you are not only visiting a historically important culinary spot filled with flavors and savors, but also one that maintains the same passionate service and cuisine as they did...
Read moreWe've had the pleasure of dining at La Piccola Cuccagna a number of times for lunch and also for dinner. It is always such a pleasure -- we love this place!
Food (5 out of 5): the chef and the culinary team here is outstanding. Everything we have had here has been flavorful and masterfully prepared. The potato encrusted sea bass we had for dinner here our last evening in Italy, was one of our standout favorites of all of the dishes we've eaten anywhere. Kudos to the chef and the culinary team!
Service (5): our experience here with service has been consistently excellent. The servers have thorough familiarity with the menu and provide attentive, friendly service.
Atmosphere (5): we've yet to dine inside as the weather has always been perfect. The location makes for hustle and bustle of people walking by, which we enjoy.
The first time we ate here was for lunch. The food and experience were so wonderful that we canceled our dinner plans for the evening, and ate here again instead. It is that good and is among our favorite places...
Read moreI don’t typically leave a review, only if I really enjoyed the experience and that’s exactly happened during my trip to Rome. First time that we visited this place was right after we arrived. We were really hungry, tired and came to very first restaurant we saw and we couldn’t have made a better choice! The waiters were very polite, especially Abbi and his colegue whose name we unfortunatelly don’t know (I’m saying these two because they served our table but I believe all of the waiters are as good as them), they made us feel very welcomed and made our stay in this restaurant very worthy! So worthy that even though we’re here for only 4 days, we decided to come back. The other plus is that no matter what amount of people was there, we got out food and drinks incredibly fast. The place is very nice, it fits so well into the Italian architecture and that’s what makes it so cozy. Our overall experience was incredible, we recommend this place to everyone and if I ever come back to Rome, this is my first check-point! Thank you...
