Thank goodness for this delicious restaurant. Finding great vegan options was harder than we anticipated, and we stumbled upon this place with clearly marked vegan-friendly signs.
The interior is beautiful and romantic, but the food was the real treat. Our last meal out was so incredibly bad that we became hesitant about trying vegan food in Italian restaurants. Well, the pizza here was fantabulous! What a treat. We got the Vegan "Capricciosa" (tomato, champignon mushrooms, black olives, vegan baked ham, artichokes, vegan cheese) and Vegan Meatballs. The meatballs were good—not too firm but tasty. The real highlight was the pizza! It was perfect—the best vegan pizza we've had in Italy. The combination of flavors was incredible. We really wished we had gotten two pizzas.
So the next day, we did. We picked a second pizza on day two and went with the "Diavola" (vegan cheese, tomato sauce, vegan salami, chili pepper). It was good and simple, but we prefer more complex flavors. We wish we had just gotten two of the Vegan "Capricciosa" because we found ourselves fighting over the pieces.
We hope they add more complex vegan pizzas to their menu over time, but we were...
Read moreDespite staying in Rome for a week, I only had one day to walk around and see all the classic sights. In just a few short hours, I went to see the Coliseum, the Pantheon, The Fountain of Trevi, the Spanish Steps, the Piazza di Polpo and the Vatican City(I did not go inside the Vatican City).
After walking all around the city, I had worked up quite the appetite. I passed Origano on my way to the Spanish Steps from the Fountain of Trevi. I remembered it and decided to return to it.
I loved the atmosphere inside and the warm greeting from the hostess at the front. I took a seat right in front of the kitchen. There was a great selection of vegan options, especially authentic Italian dishes. With difficulty I went with the Seitan Meatballs.
This was an excellent choice(I am sure there were no bad dishes). The seitan meatballs were tasty and feeling. The perfect way to finish a day of...
Read moreIt was great to find a restaurant with vegan options so close to a central location!
The food here was very good. The vegan pepperoni on the pizza is some of the best I’ve had. The lasagna was delicious. I personally enjoyed the cacio e Pepe very much but the artichokes on it were a little burnt. The Aperol spritz was also not my favourite. The taramisu seemed a little old but it was nice to have a vegan dessert option regardless.
The negative would be the bathroom. While the atmosphere of the restaurant itself was very charming the bathroom was extremely off putting as it was dirty, overfilling with rubbish and definitely unhygienic for a place serving food. It was also extremely close to the kitchen where they prepared food.
Despite this, I would still recommend the place as the food was good and the location was easily accessible if your staying in the...
