This restaurant was found by myself thought it to be a celiac 's paradise. To my girlfriend this was the epitome of food paradise. So she ordered some items off of the special gluten free menu, not have a regular menu item change, even though this was off the "Gluten Free Menu" there was a surcharge of 2 Euro per dish, which I thought was ridiculous. We had eaten at other HIGHER RATED gluten free restaurants and there was no "FEE" & regular restaurants that offered a very small selection of gluten free items and they did NOT surcharge us. I am fairly new to how gluten affects someone with celiac's and I would assume every celiac handles this differently. As soon as we made the 10 min walk back to our hotel, my girlfriend already knew something wasn't right. For anyone who is a Celiac's Im sure you know what i mean as I will spare the intricate details. Suffice to say the entirety of that night she was extremely sick. To make matters worse we had to get up extra very early for a tour bys. Prior to our departure she spent at-least 30min in the bathroom every hour, VIOLENTLY ILL. We went to two other "Gluten Free" restaurants and had not one issue or a price mark-up for her food. Even at two other restaurants who I would have considered to have minimal offerings for Celiacs, there was not an issue. From what I can tell this places hails as a Celiacs paradise, which is a bold face lie. . Nevertheless in a establishment like this I would have no qualms for paying a little extra so my girlfriend can experience dishes she may have not been able to before. I worked several years in the Restaurant Business and food allergies are taken seriously,. I felt like this cant be real, they hail as offering numerous Gluten Free items, yet some how my girlfriend was profusely sick as soon as we got back, didn't sleep and on the toilet as we rushed to get ready for our tour. I am appalled that a place that claims to offer a wide variety of items, was the one place of the 7-9 we ate at we had an issue. Of the 3-4 places that had extremely limited options for "senza glutine" they were fine and she even raved about some.

*EDIT * In response of the Owners comment that maybe they were too expensive for us. Way to cover up your sub par food! He barely made mention of the food and decided to villianize us as being cheap. LOLOLOL This edit is due to the OWNER not claiming fault and completely side stepping the issue and claims we thought it was too expensive. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PRICE!!!!! We sought out a "specialized" restaurant that prepared ,any "Gluten Free Meals" and my girl friend who has had Celiac's for over a decade knows when she has consumed gluten. Its the fact we paid extra for senza glutine , didnt receive it & she became VIOLENTLY ILL as of a result of consuming gluten, the night after eating and early the next day which almost cost us our expensive trip to Pompeii. THIS IS WHY YOU GET NO STAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS THE FACT WE PAID FOR EXCLUSIVE FOOD, that was expected to be free of Glutine! Not one apology, or an explanation. Instead we are called cheap because you lack care in preparation in YOUR FOOD! She knows what it feels like when she consumes GLUTINE. LIKE I SAID TO ALL CELIACS, two MORE HIGHER rated restaurants for celiacs didnt add a special fee, nor did she get sick.! I'd pay 5 Euro as long as my Celiac girlfriend didnt get SICK!!!! It was upset that night, and now infuriated when I read his horrible EXCUSES. He fails to claim...

NOT authentic Italian food... NOT a 4.5... absolutely can NOT recommend. The interior is charming and the family running the restaurant was welcoming... but unfortunately the food was NOT good at all. They first wanted to seat us outside near 3 trashcans because the tables inside weren't ready we kindly asked to wait for an inside table as the trash can view was not an option for us... They happily accommodated us with a lovely table inside right away. BUT... the food was quite unfortunate... Zucchini flowers (one of my favs) were both unrecognizable and unedible, just a clump of gooey batter no site of the delicate flower. My husbands Saltimboca, a Roman dish that he has been enjoying for decades was not correctly prepared or served and my carbonara simply was not good, weird flavor... We were not offered any bread that's odd for Rome... service and English became spotty when they realized we weren't happy... in sum... NOT a good experience at all... More like a poor cafeteria quality food. We left hungry after a $55 lunch... My apologies for the poor review really don't do this unless it absolutely necessary but I didn't want others to be duped the way we were with a 4.5 rating (NOT accurate at all)... We ordered our starters and mains at the same time... and thought for sure as each course came out certainly it would get better but it just didn't. We struck out entirely... and that is hard to do in Rome... I definently would NOT recommend this restaurant... when there are so many amazing options in...

If I could give this restaurant 5+ stars I would! My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant, we looked down an alley and saw this very romantic looking restaurant and decided to give it a try. They were fully booked for days, but the hostess was kind enough to find us a small table, and we're so glad she did. The food here is exceptional! There is a reason why this restaurant is fully booked for days in advance. The food quality is excellent, full of flavour, and inventive. We ordered a pizzotelle starter which is fried pizza dough topped with 3 different toppings - one with smoked salmon and avocado, one burrata and anchovy, and, and one with caprese. EXCELLENT! We also ordered octopus carpaccio and a side of cauliflower finished in quality olive oil, also EXCELLENT! We ordered 3 dishes and 1 bottle of wine, for €50. Our waiter was very attentive, always had a smile, even though the restaurant was completely full. We had the smallest table in the restaurant, upstairs, and could have easily been ignored but that was not the case at all. Everyone from the hostess, the waiter, and the bus people were pleasant and attentive, but I would have rated the food alone 5 stars. I needed the extra + in this review for the service. Do yourself a favour and make a reservation for this restaurant. We wish we could have gone back a second time before we left....

Maybe we visited when the chef had an off day, but the food was extremely poor. We visited as one of our party is coeliac and wanted to accommodate for dietary preferences. The GF focaccia was hard as a rock, inedible for anyone who wanted to keep all their teeth. The response from the team was simply "sorry, this is how it is". The non GF focaccia wasn't a bread - just a pizza base with very light toppings. Apparently this is how they do it in Rome. Not really according to all the images I can Google, eh? To be honest, we can overlook this. Things didn't improve for the main courses. The veggie carbonara was fully scrambled, and the meat ones had the same issue. Surely the one place you can imaging good carbonara is in Rome! One of our dishes had a long hair inside, but it was quickly replaced. Ravioli was quite basic, definitely not with high quality tomato sauce. The cacio e pepe with mint was pretty tasty and a saving grace for the table. Overall, prices are reasonable for this part of town. We had a few euro taken off our bill for the issues which was nice, but the serving team didn't seem to care that the food was just subpar. Don't come here expecting great things, especially if you're interested in gluten free.
