I read some of the previous poor reviews on Polveriera and I must say, my family’s experience was a completely pleasurable one. Polveriera is a reasonably priced casual bar/restaurant that is perfect for a lunch after having visited the Colosseo. We were a party of 6 and our orders ran the gamut. Salmon salad: pleasant and generous. Pizza: a margherita equivalent to one you’d pay twice as much for in Piazza Navona. Pasta: carbonara, crispy pancetta or guanciale ( wasn’t sure which)couldn’t have been better and at a reasonable price. Hamburger and chips: it was giant! AND… who gives you freshly fried chips?!! And a lot of them too! Meat: abbachio al forno: delicious, tender, had roasted potatoes and a delicious sauce. And caprese. The staff was friendly, attentive, spoke English. All in all, very nice casual place with good food. And why would you open a restaurant anywhere if you didn’t serve good food? Especially in Rome! Don’t remember the price, but very reasonable. Did I mention clean? It was! I am recommending this restaurant. Giving it only 4 stars because its ambiance is comfortable, casual but not anything to...
Read moreTOURIST TRAP. Potentially one of the worst restaurants we’ve been to. Not far from the Colosseum, so bound to get a lot of custom. My partner ordered the pasta and meatballs - the pasta was undercooked and the meatballs tasted like vinegar. And I ordered the chicken salad, which was a sad selection of cut leaves, grated carrot, sun-dried tomatoes and over processed cheese (??) and extremely dry and overcooked grilled chicken. We also ordered the burrata which never arrived and when asking about it, we were presented with a completely different dish. To top off the delightful experience, when going to pay, the staff didn’t know which table we were from or what we ordered and tried to charge us double (which I think was another tables bill). After a lot of shouting between the staff, we were finally able to pay, but left feeling robbed and...
Read moreGreat restaurant and coffee bar very close to the Coliseum! My wife and I have been in Rome for two weeks and have visited this cafe almost every day of our trip. Mirko and Giulia (as well as the rest of the staff) have made our visits here incredible with their great customer service. Everyone is very friendly and made an effort to speak with us although we only speak English.
Their espresso and croissants for breakfast are delightful and are clearly crafted with care. All of the pastries we’ve tried have been delicious. We also have enjoyed drinking their aperol spritz in the evenings as well as their many pizzas and paninis we’ve picked up for carry out. All of the food here is awesome. Overall, we’ve had a great experience here and would recommend Polveriera to anyone visiting the area. I wish we had a Polveriera back home in the...
