Firstly, after we entered, we were not greeted with a hello, just a question of how many people. Earlier on the day we saw the restaurant had an inside garden where we would like to sit. We asked if we could sit there, and then we got pointed to 3 different people who told us where to go. We walked into the garden without guidance so just picked a table next to a table of 3 people (of which one was a little kid). Soon after they left, with the table full of their empty plates. That only got cleaned later after around 60 minutes.
It took 30 minutes for the waiter to bring menu's. During the half an hour wait, the waiter (who seemed like he was quite new to restaurantwork) did not acknowledge us at all. When we asked for the menu, he was very confused. He went inside and then came back with an older collegue (owner or manager) and they were pointing to the empty table of the people next to us (maybe that he thought we were them, but we don't have a kid?!). The manager then asked what we needed , so we told him we would like to see the menu. Then it finally came.
Another 15 minutes later, we called on the waiter to order because he did not ask about it. We told him a coke, a beer, a salad, the ravioli and the spaghetti. After 10 minutes the coke came, just the coke. Then after 5 minutes he came back again. Because he forgot the rest of the order. We told him again.
Then the beer came and after a little wait, so did the ravioli and the spaghetti. You read that right: only the spaghetti and ravioli, no salad. Hopefully, we waited for the salad to come. But no, nothing came. After a while the waiter came outside again so we asked where our salad had gone. He replied with "salad?". And then he went inside and came back with only balsamic and salt. So we thought maybe they still need to prepare it and waited, again very hopefully, but no.
Then the manager came outside to bring dessert to the other table and we asked him. Then very quickly the salad came. Weird kind of dessert... 🤣Judging by the time, they did still have to make it.
After 20 minutes no-one came at all anymore so when we wanted to pay we went inside. We got angry faces pointed towards us and that was the end of the evening.
Given that we laughed a lot about the whole ordeal, it was a funny evening. The whole experience was laughable but frustrating, especially when you're hungry.
Final comment about the food. The ravioli was very al dente but not in a nice way. The tomato sauce was very flavorful and rich. The spaghetti was quite spicy, which took away from the other flavours. Maybe more a personal thing. A salad to cool it down would have been nice... The mixed chicken salad was very nice! The chicken was tender and a bit crispy and full of flavour.

Read moreIf i could give 0 stars i would. Such a terrible experience. We came to Rome, the food capital of the world, to experience an authentic Italian meal. Firstly we were served Bruschetta (soggy bread, with mushy tomatoes and old lettuce) with a hair in it. We politely asked for a remake which continued to take 30+ minutes. Next we were served a grey tough steak after requesting medium rare. We requested a remake and then another 30 minutes later were given a rare (bleu) piece of steak, freezing cold in the centre (fresh off the cow - photos attached). Our poor friend had nothing to eat, and he gave up at that point. After all of this, i felt incredibly guilty to complain about my meal, however it was bland, mushy and frankly tasted like baby food with a few peas scattered through it. I hardly touched it. The glass of house white tasted like vinegar and it was clear it came from a bottle 3-4 days old. When we went to pay, we explained our disappointment. We were more than happy to pay for the meals we ate and enjoyed, however we believed we deserved some compensation for the terrible meals we received. When trying to communicate this we were angrily yelled it in Italian and were weren’t allowed to leave the building until we paid for everything. The owner decided to scream at us in Italian after we reminded him we only speak English, in front of other customers instead of dealing with it professionally. He was more than capable to speak English, yet would randomly yell out in Italian. So inappropriate and extremely disappointing.
The menu on the website is also incorrect, showing outdated prices that were €2-3 cheaper than what we saw when we got to the restaurant.
The only positive was my crispy coke zero and the lovely understanding waitress.
If you come to Rome, please do not ruin your experience at...
Read moreWe decided to go to Julie's after the manager (the owner maybe?) was very kind to us when we were taking a look at the menu, in one of the nights in Rome. It was our last night in the country so we wanted to leave in high notes. Too bad it didn't fully deliver.
We opted to seat inside (to avoid smokers) but we totally forgot about the garden, but in the end, it might've been for the better since the garden could've had smokers as well.
So we ordered a Margherita pizza to share, while the main plates were being prepared. I ordered a Rigatone all'Amatriciana and a Lasagna to my wife. To wash it down a Peroni Red Ale to me and a Fanta to my wife.
The food didn't take long to come and the pizza was a little bit disappointing. We've had better in Rome and, truth to be told, I think this is the standard for pizzas around there. The dough was thin and crisp, we were waiting something a little bit more dense, thicker.
The pasta came right after. My rigatone was very nice! My wife's Lasagna was the opposite. It was poor in meat and it was mostly layers of pasta. We did better Lasagna at home, to be honest. Also, I asked them to not pour grated cheese on top of her Lasagna (due to her pregnancy, she's not eating any sort of grated cheese) and they followed the instructions, which was nice, but they also didn't pour onto mine's as well. And remember the Red Ale? For some reason, the waiter/manager understood "Gran Reserva Doppio Malte Bock". I didn't even bother asking to change it, but well, it was really a downer.
I'll stretching my review to 3/5 because the employee (waiter/manager/owner maybe) was very nice to us, and this counts a lot. He even gave me a double Limoncello shot, as courtesy so there is that. But food-wise, we've been to better...
