A gem near the Spanish steps, with amazing food and an outdoor seating area worthy of praises. The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because the waiter who made a couple of order mistakes was so rude! He brought wrong quantity of dishes and drinks- and when we said “oh we only ordered one” or we ordered two of these - told us abruptly, NO this is what your order, you should know what you order and scolded us like children with no apologies whatsoever! Had to bite our tongue as we were surrounded with other people, but we were embarrassed. Gobsmacked! We then told the managers/ owners after who apologised profusely of course. One rude waiter spoilt the experience. Apart from that- the food is really good.

We entered this place because the view it has its gorgeous plus the place seemed very cozy. We had three pizzas and aperols, and they were ok- definately not the best we’ve had. However, the place was nice so we were enjoying our stay. The issue was once the waiter (one who didn’t even served us) came with the check and insisted we leaved a 10% tip. I’ve been living in Rome for 6 months now and this is the first time a place asks me for a tip, I’m guessing he thought we were tourists and that we didn’t knew. Also, we asked for our pizzas to go and they never gave them to us, and after the tip thing we assumed it was related lol. Just beware if you’re a tourist, tips are not a thing in Rome.

Caffè Ciampini di Marco Ciampini is a hidden gem in Rome, offering a beautiful terrace that doubles as a shelter on rainy days. From there, you can enjoy a charming view of the city, most of it are rooftoops, but then again, it's Rome, so there's always something to look at! The service at this café is friendly and cheerful, creating a welcoming atmosphere. They serve typically great Italian coffee and mouthwatering tiramisu, satisfying your cravings for authentic flavors. Conveniently located near the Spanish Steps, Caffè Ciampini di Marco Ciampini provides a peaceful and serene setting. It's the perfect spot to relax and soak in the beauty of Rome, alongside your lovely companion.

We were told that we needed to pay before we order. So we did. We took our order from the bar (caffe, icecreams, water) to go outside and sit at one of their tables. We were told we could not sit down at the table to drink the coffes we baught from them, and the icecreams. And that we needed to drink them while sitted up (even though the coffees were not 'to go', but the normal coffee cups). So they did NOT let us sit down, and told us that if we want to sit down, there is a different price! (Of which we were of course not told upfront). We never experienced anything like this in any of the countries/cities we have ever visited. Worst experience ever, not expected, the guy raised his voice to 'convince' me, even if I was very calm and polite (and with a 6 year old). We left the coffes there, untauched. I highly DO NOT recommend this place. No wonder it is empty on a Sunday afternoon. Very very disappointed! And extremely bad service!!!

Update, based on owner's reply: Things are very simple: this is a simple Caffe, not a fancy restaurant! What high-class restaurant has tables on the walking pavement, next to the trashcans? None! However, the owner does have the right to impose his own rules, just not after having requested for the money and after getting paid. Otherwise this is just a trick. And by the way, restaurants with bars, actually do offer seats at the bar, which is not the case for this Caffe location. I maintain my position that this is very very bad service, just that now (based on owner's reply) it is fully...

We just wanted to pop in for a nice meal as the setting of the restaurant was so nice with a great view, but that was the only one nice thing there. We were greeted by not so nice man to be told that we will have to wait for the table, which is fine seem like a good sign but how wrong we were. Then gentleman ask us what we want to eat which we say we just wanted to grab some pizza and beer. After waiting for 10 min we were called by a waiter to be seated. And we were sitting there for a while I mean a while. We saw at the neighbouring tables that the food look good and pizza was quite big. All great but we were just sitting and sitting looking at very disorganised restaurant with bad service. Staff were grumpy with a bit of attitude but we were still waiting. Other people were waiting too sitting for a while with empty plates. Finally after 15 min of sitting waiter came to take our order. We said we want a pizza and beer and he ask if just one pizza we affirm and then he said he unfortunately can’t serve us because we MUST ORDER AT LEAST 2 MAIN COURSES. Nobody told us that before before sitting us and even before ordering that they have that special policy. Anyways I said looking at the size of it we just simply won’t be able to eat two so they said they can’t serve us then with really bad attitude and looking at us really not nice. Don’t recommend especially on a busy day/time as they gonna waste your time and leave you with nothing. REALLY REALLY...

Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing.

We came in the morning for a quick snack with our children after walking near the Spanish Steps. We were greeted by a polite host, who invited us in after we clearly explained that we only wanted to order a pizza and some coffee. We appreciated his hospitality.

However, shortly after we placed our order, a waiter approached us and very insistently demanded that we order four main courses, despite the fact that it was morning and we had no intention of having a full meal. He incorrectly claimed that we had promised to order more, which was not true. When we refused, the manager was called, who explained that it was their policy that guests must order full meals.

If this is indeed the restaurant's policy, it should be communicated clearly before seating guests, not after they have already placed an order. We found the approach very disappointing, especially since we were traveling with children who simply wanted a small meal.

Moreover, after we mentioned that we would leave a review to share our experience, the situation became even more uncomfortable, with staff behaving in a way that we found unprofessional.

We have traveled extensively across Italy, visiting many wonderful restaurants and pizzerias where we always received warm and welcoming service. Unfortunately, this was not...
