Review of Leonelli Beach Club, Sorrento

I called several other beach clubs, and they wouldn’t let me book since we have two teenage girls (at least they answered the phone). At Leonelli’s, we booked as soon as we arrived in Sorrento because they never answered the phone or responded to any emails. It felt like they were doing us a favour from the start.

The staff were incredibly rude to foreigners. Not once did we get served while sitting in our chairs. They didn’t collect our empty glasses, and we were ripped off when they sold us warm doughnuts, charging twice what the locals paid.

This place has the potential to be amazing. If you removed the Italians and added some good old-fashioned Australian customer service with a few smiles around the place, I think everyone would be much happier.

I’m shocked it’s been here for as long as it has. Another thing, as an Aussie, which is really hard to deal with, is the amount of people smoking on the sun deck and even in the ocean. The ocean is beautiful, crystal clear, and super refreshing, but very crowded in July. The lounge chairs are great, although they only recline to one position, meaning you’re lying down, which is not something we’re used to. In Asia and other European locations, you can adjust the backrest to the position you want to sit in.

At Amalfi Beach Club, they charge for everything, including sun loungers and umbrellas. That’s fine as we had planned a beach day, and the weather was amazing, with simply stunning views. Just think about your customer service with foreigners. Otherwise, one day you won’t get any customers.

Definitely worth trying a few beach clubs in Sorrento; however, be advised that the service isn’t amazing and the food is pretty average. The beach, however, is good. It is a sandy beach with access from the deck and cliff views. In my opinion, the beach is nicer than those in Amalfi and Positano, as it’s much more comfortable...

The beach area is great but why not a 5star you'll see at the end. As the beaches go they worked out a problem and made it into a great beach area. As far as a normal UK beach goes they have got the natural lovely beaches we have. BUT they have really hot weather, lovely sunshine, water temperature like a lovely bath at home, a safe organised swimming area in the sea with boulders making an almost pool like area. The food shack is full on you can get service to your place on the beach and pay by card. They have chalet type huts for you to change in. There's a tap and shower area as you leave the beach. It is a rather close quarters beach when it get full but always plenty of room in the sea. The beach is about 50 to a 100 foot down sheer drop from the above roads and paths but there's a lift nice clean fully operable safe lift 1euro each ish. So you'll have a great beach time and there are lots of beach sectioned areas to choose from I guess there much the same. BUT THEY'RE VERY EXPENSIVE two loungers and a brolly £40 QUID with no take your own option but then your in sorrento so you must have the cash eh.! You can get away with one sunlouger at the back no brolly for £17 if your there early and push not for it cheap. Its a great day so get there early plan for the whole day and get your moneys worth once you get over the the body's hock prices you'll be fine. Oh the sand is like lava black sand and in sun is red hot the sea is warm after initial tiny oh that's cold it's isn't. If your early they leave all people's cast off goggles snorkels balls lilos crocodiles etc under the walkway at the back my son borrowed a snorkel set was in the sea most of day from nine till three and you can see a good few fish swimming in the sea below you they only little but plenty arno D...

Leonelli beach club, if you looking for a place to swim and relax for the day, this is an option. Easy to get to via the lift in the park above the club, 2 euro per person and offers a way to the port Once out of the lift head right there are 2 options one is leonellis It fills quickly on weekends and sunny hot days If your new you will get the beds not pre-booked Neither area makes a difference as the water stairs are located around the wharf You can we code the menu for the restaurant on the umbrellas Beds are 20 euros and an umbrella is 10 Expensive yes- worth while yes The water here is turquoise and at this time of year brisk The view up the cliffs to the hotels is amazing- the supporting brickworks truly astonishing The ocean water is fabulous to be in. The food options are basic from the restaurant and prices are ok. Most items are cooked from frozen, nothing on the menu is exciting, the panni are your best options, I suggest you pack a few items like rolls or pastries and water, maybe snacks as well - most of the locals have done this Overall it’s a great day , cost is a factor, but outweighed by the water and the view. It’s a strong 3 on the rating, based on lesser alternatives

Spent a morning here last week at the height of beach season and it was a good experience! It was an easy walk down the path from city center with great views as you go down. Easy to take the public elevator back up that’s right by the beach entrance. The beach itself was clean, soft sand, the water was clear and so refreshing. Early in the morning with fewer people it was very clear, and still nice later on. Some fish around even! I didn’t swim outside the protected area. Very family friendly with lots of kids running around. Lots of good seating options - we wanted to be on the sand so ended up in the back row in a couple of nice loungers with an umbrella for 44 euros total. They asked us to move at one point which was weird since they hadn’t given us assigned seats but oh well. The pier options looked good, too. Nice clean toilets, a few outdoor showers to rinse off (no enclosed ones that I noticed), and a restaurant. Overall a good experience!

I came down here at 9am when they opened as a guest at the Hotel Tramontano. It started well, €18 for a sun bed (€16 as a guest of the hotel) & €8 for a umbrella. I was solo so shown to my bed & I got the impression that there was no choice there & didn’t query. Due to windy weather the umbrella fell over and knocked my head, they apologised & left it down. An hour later with other people raising their umbrellas I asked to raise mine to which the man was gruff & rude. I asked to be moved as the wind was just too much for the umbrella as other spots were fine so since they had shade I wanted to move. I was told rudely that there were no spots (not true) & no effort was made. I contemplated asking for a refund but didn’t really want to ruin my day with that fight. Staff aren’t friendly & unapproachable at best. Place itself is clean and water is fantastic with a great view. I gave 2 stars for that fact alone otherwise it would have been zero.
