This location offers freshly made gnocchi in a trendier aesthetic, styled in a way that struck us as particularly millennial. It’s maybe marginally cheaper than nearby places and is a little bit farther away from the bustling lines of tourists so you can have a quieter dinner if you sit outside.
Cuisine: The main dishes we specifically had were the Gnocchi alla Sorrentina and the Gnocchi con Sugo de Pesto. Both sauces we found to be passable as ‘homestyle’ dishes but for the price and the fact that this is a restaurant dedicated to gnocchi I think our expectations were that the dishes would shine with a little more complexity. We also tried the bruschetta, which was done classically with just bread/tomato/oil and have no complaints as far as flavor but for €8 it’s a bit overpriced.
Drinks: My girlfriend had an Aperol Spritz and I had a Campari Spritz. The Aperol was about what one would expect, a bit fruity, lightly bitter, and refreshing. I was surprised at just how much more bitter the Campari Spritz was by comparison and regret getting it. We asked the waitstaff about it and they seemed concerned and offered to alter the drink a bit to make it more palatable. It wasn’t really necessary but I think they misunderstood our curiosity and surprise for complaints - regardless I appreciated their attentiveness and wanting us to enjoy the food and drink so for that I give the service 5 stars.
tl;dr: Food is mostly okay for the price, the gnocchi is fresh and it has a pleasant atmosphere and staff. Overall we’d...
Read moreIf you are in the mood for gnocchi this is definitely the place to go! As others have said, it’s a quiet oasis down a side street away from all the tourists so that is also a big plus. Based on the name it should come as not surprise that they mainly serve gnocchi but man they do it well! The menu is a QR menu which I know is annoying but they do have wifi.
We ordered the mozzarella and tomatoes which was good. Nothing great but not bad and no green tomatoes thankfully. I ordered the Hugo spritz which I did not like but that’s not their fault, I just found it way too sweet because it’s made with saint Germaine liqueur. My dining partners had a Moscow mule and a glass of house white which they both enjoyed.
We ordered the gnocchi alla sorrentina and Della nonna for mains as we were not super hungry. Two mains was more than enough for 3 people with medium hunger. The gnocchi are literally potato pillows, as they should be. Even though they are made of potato they are not heavy and don’t stick in your stomach. Definitely an excellent gnocchi. The sauces were also excellent for both dishes. sorrentina is vegetarian and nonna has meat.
I would recommend this place for a light, out of the way lunch with excellent gnocchi. This was one of the few places we were able to tip on the credit card but there was no...
Read moreThe restaurant is located just to the left of a touristy street, so it’s a little hidden and we wouldn’t have found it if not for using Google Maps’ search. We booked through TheFork app.
Now, the beginning looked promising. The interior is very nice, eye-catching and modern e.g. QR code for accessing the menu.
Got the squid and vegetarian tomato gnocchi. The gnocchi were cooked too much i.e. were not al dente, but this is personal preference so ok. The tomato sauce in both dishes did not taste as good as expected for Napoli, and was more akin to an average brand you’d buy from a low-end store.
The servers did not know where they got their tomatoes from, just said they were locaI. Will give the benefit of the doubt. However, in my opinion the gnocchi is not fresh, either frozen after being made, or bought from the supermarket.
All in all, the food was mediocre. Given the whooping price of ~€22 for a relatively small portion of gnocchi, I’d say it’s massively overpriced.
The restaurant is essentially the epitome of how things work in the world at the moment: eye candy superficiality trumped only by the letdown of the reality of the product AFTER you have...
