IDEM CON PATATE Bistrot — Restaurant in Turin

I am neither vegan nor vegetarian, but this restaurant blew my mind. Came with two friends for lunch and called 15 minutes before to reserve our seats.

We had the cheese platter for starters and the carbonara, the pesto rosso and the beyond meat with truffle sauce.

Carbonara? Bloody fantastic. The creaminess, smoky aroma of guanciale - honestly, one of the best versions I've had in a while. I would come back again just for this.

The pasta rosso was good: simple, rich, and packed with flavours.

The Beyond Meat dish was skilfully done. Grilled and crisp on its outside, tender on the inside. I've tasted many attempts at elevating the mock meat, but this one tops it all. Paired with the truffle and cream sauce, it really was quite the delight.

My vegan friend was in heaven. Her two carnivorous pals couldn't stop singing praises. IDEM is definitely on our must-visit list for our next visit next year.

Siamo stati a cena. Abbiamo prenotato giorni prima per festeggiare il compleanno e ci hanno riservato un tavolo ingresso bagno. Ordiniamo i formaggi, abbastanza buoni ma il pane era vecchio. La tartara di sedano altro non è che sedano e carota crudi tagliati a cubetti (prezzo spropositato per quello che è) . Polpette agghiaccianti, dei malloppi al gusto pane. Rotolini di spinaci con humus salatissimi (e io mangio abbastanza salato di norma).Ci offrono il dolce anche se avevamo prenotato una torta per il compleanno ma rifiutiamo perche gia abbastanza disgustati. Per non parlare del cameriere che lasciava la scia di sudore ogni volta che passava. Alla cassa ci fanno presente che avevamo prenotato la torta del compleanno e che dovevamo prenderla (potevano anche aver ragione in questo, peccato che se la siano ricordata solo al pagamento e a fine cena ci avevano chiesto che dolce volessimo. La loro scusa era che doveva essere una sorpresa) ma visto il tutto e il conto di piu di 70€ per quattro piatti abbastanza tremendi abbiamo esposto il nostro dissenso e hanno accettato per non farcela pagare. Uniche note positive: la location carina e la cameriera forse di nome isabella (dai tratti sudamericani) che è stata gentilissima e professionale. ...La titolare nonostante le nostre critiche non si è neanche degnata di farsi vedere.

Rispondo: -Il locale era pieno quindi l'unico posto a noi riservato era quello fianco toilette: anche se avessimo chiesto un cambio sarebbe stato impossibile. -I gusti son soggettivi ma si può comparare la dedizione e le preparazioni con altri ristoranti (e con 20 anni di veganesimo alle spalle) e visibilmente si intuisce la differenza dei piatti ma non dei prezzi che rimangono sproporzionati per l'offerta. Da un menu non è prevedibile il risultato. -Il pane appariva un pane vecchio e poi tostato o tostato molto prima di essere servito. (Vuole solo essere un consiglio nato dall'esperienza) -A me sembrava un ragazzo che lavora in un ristorante servendo ai tavoli che non si è adeguatamente lavato le ascelle. Non capisco cosa ci sia di discriminatorio di razza o specie e il fatto che lei alluda e colleghi l'odore di sudore alla discriminazione lo trovo agghiacciante. Io sto mangiando e l'odore di sudore penso dia fastidio a chiunque. Io ho lo stesso problema in certi periodi e basta lavarsi più volte, essendoci bagni a disposizione è del tutto fattibile. -"Cosa vi porto per dolce" è stata la frase, quindi ben diverso da come lei che non era presente sostiene . -Al momento del pagamento ci hanno fatto notare che c'era segnata la torta alché abbiamo chiesto cortesemente se potevamo rinunciarci. Con le ragazze abbiamo riso e scherzato senza alcun tipo di scortesia come allude lei. The owner of this small bistrot forgot our lunch reservation and there were no free tables, so we decide to wait those suggested 15-20 minutes by wandering outside in the very nice via Barbaroux...

After that time we get back there but there still were no places.

After other 10 minutes we sat. The owner told us that they got a logistic problem in the kitchen that day.

I think that in another day, things could have been much better: the nice owner is doing his best to offer a good service.

Food was ok even if portions were not huge and again we wait 20 minutes to have it. Beyond meat was a great choice.
