There are good sandwiches, great sandwiches… and then there’s Master Sandwich in Turin, which feels less like a shop and more like a temple. You don’t just eat here—you make a pilgrimage. And presiding over it all is Paulo, the high priest of bread and filling, greeting you in one of six languages like he’s known you since childhood.

This isn’t hype. This isn’t marketing. This is the best sandwich place on Earth, ordained by whatever divine force governs the union of bread, meat, cheese, and soul. Paulo doesn’t just make sandwiches; he composes them. Every cut, every spread, every layer is deliberate, tuned like a Stradivarius until the flavors sing. You take a bite, and your tongue understands why there’s a line out the door—it’s not fashion, it’s faith.

I was only in Turin for a few days, but this place carved itself into my memory forever. I ordered two different sandwiches just to test the limits. Paulo didn’t shy away from feedback—good, bad, whatever—because he’s not afraid of the truth. That’s the hallmark of a renaissance man of the sandwich: curiosity, humility, and the relentless pursuit of better.

The bread crackles when you bite it, the fillings are balanced like a perfect chord, and the sauces… well, they linger like a good story, making you wish you could go back and taste it for the first time again.

If there’s a heaven for sandwiches, Master Sandwich is its front gate. Paulo’s already there, smiling, ready to hand you something wrapped in paper that will ruin every other sandwich...

I cannot put into words how much I love Master Sandwich. I studied abroad in Torino and lived right next to this wonderful pannineria. I came here weekly! Not only is it inexpensive, but the paninis are also gourmet-like. Each panino is only €4 (unless you get one of the €4,50 ones). My favorite is the ghittone and I also really like the tamarro and Preciso. They are open from 11 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday and then on Saturday and Sunday they are open from 11 am to 5 pm (they have different hours in the summer, they close at 3:30-4:00 pm or so and then open back up during the night time). Great location in the city center right next to...

A MUST STOP for food, especially if you are visiting the Shroud of Turin, Master Sandwich is a couple minutes away. We only had 1 day in Torino and we tried as much food as we can. Paolo’s sandwiches he made for us were so delicious and the best thing we had in Torino (we also went to some ‘nice’ restaurants)! He is very intelligent and has a deep passion for food, culture, and people. Easily one of the most memorable food experiences and a wonderful person to talk to. Can’t wait to come back and share a coffee with him someday. Thank you Paolo, we’ll see you on the Canary Islands!

A MUST VISIT!! Probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve had in my life. Crunchy breast, melted cheesy goodness, and authentic flavors at a very reasonable price. Owner was joyful and gave great suggestions. I had the #11 upon his recommendation and enjoyed every last bite. Do know, when he runs out of bread, he closes the shop… it closed at 3 when we visited. There are a lot of options, more than 33 combinations and even daily specials. My recommendation os to ask the owner/operator which you should get. Get him talking, he’s super friendly and helpful.
