I strongly recommend that no one ever sets foot in Majer. The shop might look charming from the outside, but what waits inside is a completely different story.

We went in simply wanting to buy a pack of biscuits, and were met with an unbelievably rude and aggressive woman behind the counter. She started making vulgar comments about our behavior out of nowhere, then began screaming at us like a complete lunatic. It was so hostile and uncomfortable that we had no choice but to leave the store immediately.

Her behavior was not just unprofessional — it was downright threatening and insulting. It ruined what should have been a pleasant moment in Italy.

Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of lovely cafés and bakeries where they actually respect their customers. Majer is absolutely not...

Unfortunately this coffee shop just isn’t equipped to be serving speciality coffee. Despite the very friendly staff’s best efforts, the 15 euro pour over coffee was awful. To add insult to injury the expensive speciality coffee was served in a paper cup - not even as a takeaway!

With only 1 coffee grinder and a whole menu of bean varieties, there is no adjustment in the grinder settings to account for the profiles of different beans. If they don’t have the equipment for it, they shouldn’t be serving and charging for such expensive coffee. The one staff member also seemed very overwhelmed on her own when a queue suddenly formed trying to make back to back pour overs which require time and attention....

This is a very interesting little place that's easy to miss I popped in (5th February) to try the frittelle as it's Carnival The frittelle here is excellent and almost as good as Rizzardini Only let down is the price which is a bit expensive for frittelle

This place seems to have a good selection of coffee varieties that you can buy as whole bean. Not sure about the large bags of roasted coffee out on open display? That's a no no in terms of impacting bean freshness I was tempted, but I buy my own coffee in small batches that has a roast date at home, and grind it when needed; and I make very good espresso. So from that point I would not recommend buying...

Luna was more than happy to spend several hours teaching us more about coffee (how to tamp, how fine to grind, and how to know when a manual shot is properly extracted without using a scale). She also let us sample many types of beans and discuss tasting notes before we decided which to purchase. The enthusiasm was really there and the visit was one of our favourite experiences in Venice! I can also confirm that the beans you buy and taste in the shop aren’t from the open display bags as another review erroneously suggested!
