Pizzeria Ae Oche Santa Lucia — Restaurant in Venice

Not recommended. We went there as a group of tourists, and were denied entry and asked to be seated at the walkway. At first we thought this is because there's no seat inside, but apparently locals are allowed to walk in just like that. The food was not bad but not good enough for the price, and the mandatory taxes are absurd. I understand service tax, even though the waiter is anything but friendly and we were hesitating to give but it is apparently mandatory, plus it is not per table but per person, we are a group of 5 and so we have to give 5 times service taxes. È stata una serata di festa in compagnia di amici, ma le aspettative per Ae Oche erano decisamente più alte rispetto a quanto abbiamo potuto constatare. Tralasciando l'attesa per poter mangiare perché posso capire che da un ristorante o pizzeria a Venezia la clientela non la smette più di arrivare ovviamente, il resto compone però un grande problema che non mi ha permesso di apprezzare la serata al massimo. La musica con un volume decisamente troppo alto al punto da obbligarci a dover urlare per poterci sentire era il più piccolo di questi problemi (senza contare il perenne ritmo reggaeton che non la smetteva più di rimbombarmi in testa una volta uscito dal locale), la mia pizza per qualche motivo era piccolissima in confronto a quella di tutti gli altri, come se fosse stata ordinata una baby (ma dal prezzo di una normale), il sapore era ok, ma come se non bastasse è arrivata pure tiepida/fredda. Una cosa che non mi sarei aspettato è che ad un certo punto della serata ho cominciato a sentire una sensazione particolare ai gomiti, e controllandoli mi sono reso conto che erano entrambi sbucciati a causa della qualità del tavolo in legno. I camerieri non hanno servito male, ma non c'è stata molta comunicazione tra di loro, chi ha preso le ordinazioni evidentemente non ha spiegato a quello che ci ha servito che le bevande non dovevano essere servite per tavolo ma per cliente, e quando poi abbiamo chiesto spiegazioni sul perché fossero state tutte sparpagliate per i diversi tavoli al primo dei due, ossia quello delle ordinazioni, ha risposto con un tono poco incline alle critiche. Ultima ma non ultima, a fine serata e diretti all'uscita siamo stati salutati dall'odore decisamente sgradevole del bagno che non puoi evitare per via della sua posizione obbligata verso l'uscita. In sintesi non è stato malaccio cenare lì, ma mi aspettavo molto di più da una pizzeria importante come Ae Oche, sicuramente ritornerò passati un...

Fantastic restaurant in Venezia! Locals eat here. This is not a menu tourista. We lucked out! Venice gondoliers and other locals are regulars here. Cost was very reasonable. The food was terrific - we had freshly made pizza with fresh tomatoes, basil and buffalo soft cheese. One pizza filled us. Unbelievable value - true Italian food, not the frozen food from touristy spots that feeds you parbaked North American style frozen pizzas and store bought pasta. Drinks were very reasonable too.
