Ristorante Da Giorgio — Restaurant in Venice

Apart from being on the cheaper end, there is not much going well for the place. The food was rather bland and poorly cooked, with some of the dishes even brought cold. The wait for the menu del giorno was rather long for the second course.

The waiter was very rude (without any rudeness or anything to justify it on our end) and more interested to get under the skin of British and American customers - you know, trying to milk them for the most expensive wine and so on. After the first course, instead of taking the whole plate and cutlery, he took the very interesting decision to just dump our dirty cutlery back onto the table, without replacing it for the second course.

Maybe it would have made sense if other tables got the same treatment, but this was not the case.

There are two bathrooms, one for men and the other for people with disabilities. None just for women. As for the men's bathroom, it was quite dirty and with a foul smell.

At the end, after asking for the bill, he signalled I should go to the bar to pay by card. Not a problem, however it was enough when he came back to the table to check if there was any tip left, signalled his discontent by checking it in the open, letting out a loud sigh and shaking his head in disbelief.

Overall I would say this is a tourist trap and not a true Italian eatery. Tortellini on the regular menu was decent. The prix fixe menu choices were small portions -three courses for 11euro (you get what you pay for) -1st course squid ink pasta-two pieces of squid found. 2nd and 3rd course came together on one plate and was straight out of freezer and into the fryer... fried calamari(4pieces) and a few french fries.... House wine was ok to me. There was a mistake on the bill, corrected right away when I pointed it out, but then when it came time to take my credit card another person came out and told me it wasnt my bill, arguing with me that I had gotten something else and should pay the original price. I had to argue back and forth. It seemed like this place would throw on extra charges so I would read the bill carefully. Very frustrating experience and service was hit or miss depending on who you got ( we were helped by three different people at various times). Worst place to eat, terrible food, very rude staff and the service was terrible. We ordered menio del giorno, a terrible mistake, the food was cold and we waited a lot of time, while they served other customers who came after us, but as you can see they were a priority, ready to spend a big amount of money unlike us. They didn’t even changed our cuttery, i left them in the plate and he just throwed them back on the table:)))) very nice of you. After this entire show, of ignoring our order he had the curtesy to expect tips in the bill, and showed his dissapointment. I thought that’s why you put coperto and servicio, but i guess not, you’ll get tips when you change your attitude. Don’t go there at any cost, worst dinner ever.
