My most fav hotel of this trip!

The hotel itself seemed to be somewhat ancient, but the room was newly renovated. So you can get a glimpse of the past in the lobby, but everything in your room worked just fine. The size was huge and I love that there is a hallway as a living room and a door between it and the bedroom zone. It helps a lot when you want to pack stuff but someone is already sleeping. Also I love the shampoo/shower gel and handwash they provided. Sadly, I forgot to take a photo of them.

The room met all general requirements: cleanliness, warmth, comfy bed, quietness, functionality. I would add that the room is very beautiful and gives you a relaxing vibe. The bathtub also worked, but we didn't have a chance to use it.

Location was really great. It was so close to the train station and it was easily accessed although with big luggage. There are a few stairs at the entrance, before the lobby, and before the room (in my case). But they were very few and manageable.

Breakfast looked good, but we were too exhausted and woke up late, so we were in a hurry.

One of the staff at the reception could speak like 4 languages which was a bonus point. The staff was friendly and helpful in general with some exceptions.

I wish I could give it the 10/10 perfect score. But there were some points that I really need to deduct 1 point despite how much I love this place. First was about the staff. It didn't happen to us, but we felt pretty awful being a witness. A staff barred a hotel guest from entering the breakfast room with a raised voice. It was obviously too late. I think it was just a few minutes before closure time. I know she was too late, but there is a nicer way to talk to her. It made her look more like a beggar than a hotel guest. Or actually, with the very last minute, you can even let her grab one croissant and go.

The second thing is I think one glass panel was missing from the shower cubicle. It made the nice room look a bit worn. And it made the water splash outside a bit during the shower. But I think this is a small trouble.

The third thing is about the luggage room. I wished for safer luggage storage in a hotel than in an apartment. But as the hotel let the guests move the luggage in and out by themselves. It was almost like staying in an apartment and having to leave luggage in the hallway. I think it was because there was just one staff at the reception, so it was not possible to leave the post to do other things including helping the guest with the luggage a bit. We came from a hotel in Rome and a lot looked less impressive than this one, but there were 2 staff at the reception in the morning and in the evening. So one of them could help the guests with luggage. I think this is a room for improvement.

Oh, and the city clock was pretty loud in...

We stayed at the Hotel Abbazia for 5 nights in late January to early February. This hotel was within walking distance of the train station and vaporetto stops and is located in an old monastery. Lodging includes a fabulous buffet breakfast. The large lounge is a great place to relax, read, converse with friends, and to have a drink from the small bar (when the bartender is there).||||We had booked a Standard Double Room, which turned out to be quite small. (The back of my chair was pressed against the foot of the bed when I sat at the desk.) I went to the front desk and advised them the room was too small for us, and they kindly switched us to a larger, more comfortable room the following morning. Both rooms had a queen (matrimonial) size bed, with comfortable mattresses. Each room had a mini-fridge, flat screen TV with English channels, satisfactory wi-fi, good lighting, large closet with shelving for clothes, a place for luggage, hooks for coats, and extra pillows and blankets.||||Both bathrooms were a nice size with showers with good water pressure, towel warming rack, and shelves for toiletries. ||||The breakfast buffet included: scrambled eggs, meats such as bacon or sausage, chicken wings, ham and cheese sliders, mini pizza bites, prosciutto and mozzarella nice selection of pastries, cereals, cold cuts, sliced cheese, yogurts, crostini, many assorted jams and jellies, Nutella, honey, fresh fruit, fruit salad, several types of sliced bread with a toasting machine, various juices, assorted teas, a pot of American coffee, and two (yes, 2) machines dispensing espresso, cappuccinos, hot chocolate, hot water, etc. The hot items did vary from day to day. Another plus was the fact that the staff at the breakfast buffet were extremely friendly and accommodating. After enjoying breakfast each morning, we were good to go for the whole day!||||We will absolutely...

I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. There are so many reasons to stay here when you are in Venice. First off, it's a VERY short walk from the main train station in Venice and a relatively short walk from the metro (people mover from Mestre). If you are arriving by train, you don't have to walk over any bridges or anything and it's so easy. If you're coming from the metro, you have to cross over one major bridge, but it's not very far and not very difficult. The hotel did recommend a porter for our return for only 5 euro per bag, and we did that on the way out of Venice because it was SO hot, and it was worth every penny, so you can do that on the way in, as well, if you choose. The staff are incredible. They are funny, friendly, and so accommodating. And our room was exquisite. We got the Superior Double Room, and it was gorgeous and so spacious. It had beautiful decor, a sitting room, a huge bathroom with amazing lighting, and a beautiful main bedroom with a closet area. It was one of the nicest rooms I've ever stayed in, especially in Europe. And the air conditioning was AMAZING. It worked so well, we were actually cold in our room, which was how we wanted it. Venice was so hot when we were there in July, and the room was a wonderful reprieve when we wanted to get out of the heat for a bit. The hotel is gorgeous, and it's off the main walkway of the Grand Canal, so it's actually super quiet. It's in such a great location. I cannot recommend Hotel Abbazia highly enough. I will stay there every time I...

We selected this hotel because we thought that it would be cool to stay in a refurbished monastery and the pics looked cute on the sites we browsed. Unfortunately, that was not the case as there is work to be done all over the hotel and it just makes for an okay stay. The hotel was clean but even though certain things are newer, it does not give you or feel like the rooms and hotel have been updated. The rooms are small and the shower area super tiny. It did clog a bit and got full fast, so you have to be careful not to open the door for water to leak. The beds and pillows were comfortable (firm so fyi), the heater worked (no AC during the cold months), the toiletries were not good (pretty rough even for hands), it had a safe, closet and a tub. It worked for what we needed it and it is a 5 min walk from the train station and vaporetto station and a 10 min walk to the bus station, so that is a huge plus. They offer breakfast which we added to our stay but it was below average, 1 coffee machine, hot items were cold, cold items looked old, some pastries, juice and the selection of items was kind of not an international selection. Mirko was welcoming at check in and other people attentive but when asked for a plastic bag, I was told they did not have any. The stay was okay but will not consider it for future travel.

We stayed at the Hotel Abbazia for 4 nights in December 2024 and were really happy with our decision. Only a very short walk from the train and bus stations, right in front of the Ferrovia Vaporetto stop, and right at the end of Via Tera Lista de Spagna, the wide shopping street that leads you all the way to Piazza San Marco. We asked for a room with elevator access and were happy with what we got. The room is quite tight for space but the bathroom was a good size and well designed. We found no bath towels when we arrived, but a simple request at the front desk produced them. The room has a fridge and safe, but no coffee or tea making tools. Nevertheless, the breakfast room had a great self-service coffee machine with many options for how to make your coffee. Breakfast was quite extensive and good quality and the staff were amazing, with good English to answer any questions. On our last day there we had to leave early for the airport and the staff allowed us to start breakfast 15 minutes before they officially opened. This was very much appreciated as it made our last day in Venice a lot less stressful. Overall, a lovely place to stay. I should think that in the spring, summer and fall the garden would make an excellent spot to unwind after a long day.
