This is a fantastic bar and Osteria. We were so hungry we could eat a horse, so we did.

On the edge of the old town Osteria A La Carega feels strangely like a small pub on the west coast of Scotland. If you are up for a drink the selection of local wines and spirits runs deep. There are also great nonalcholic options, try the gingerino for a sophisticated Campari like drink. The food was very good, simple local fair. For starters or to line the stomach while drinking are a fabulous selection of little fried treats, the horse meat and the zucchini flowers were outstanding. For mains the Melanzane Alla Parmigiana was light and fruity and a joy for those desperate for some vegetables. The horse meat stew with polenta was rich and tender and a 'must try' for those wanting to taste the traditional. The kids went the meat lasagna which I was a little jealous of. The deserts included a homemade blueberry tart and a chocolate 'salami'. They were great but could have done with company. Some of the wonderful local ricotta with the deserts would be a perfect foil if the owners are reading this. The staff were a mixture of gruff, friendly and helpful. We liked them and this...

When we arrived we were told that the kitchen didn't open for another 40 minutes. That was completely fine so we ordered drinks during the wait. Once the kitchen was open the waiter ignored us until we got his attention. A couple that arrived after us got their appetizer and dinner before we did, and we had ordered less than they did. I'm not sure if the waiter forgot about our order because we then waited close to an hour until our food was brought out. We were really...

We went 3 times to this restaurante to have lunch and never managed to get a spot as the kitchen was closed.

We didnt get to taste the food, which was a shame due to the nice reviews.

I can only comment on the service and staff was not very keen on serving us, specially on the last attemp which was not that late and they still had customers ordering/eating.

I might just be our experience. Do not feel discourage, give it a try as the...

A great find, quite, personal and classic Italian dishes. We had hoped to find some good restaurants where the locals eat and we found one. The service was quick and they were very friendly. They spoke both Italian and English which was great. The horse was delicious and served in a very traditional way. The fish was also really flavoursome and worth a try. Good value wine, which was delicious. Worth walking away from the centre to find.

A beautiful eatery nestled on the outskirts of the tourist scene. This spot was advised to us by some locals and it surely didn’t disappoint. Their cheeses were a great start!! The lasagna verde was wonderfully delicious and different. The peppers really make a distinct taste. The cod polenta changed my perception of Verona being a seafood city, this spot definitely knows how to do baccalà!!! Go get yourself some La Carega adesso!!!
