I have mixed feelings about this place. The place is cute (we dined in the upstairs room because they haven't told us that the enoteque downstairs was closed on sunday evening) but the tables are too close, basically I had to sit on others' people table in order to pass through so it was embarassing. I have to say that the waiters and waitresses were very kind. The wine was good. Food: We took one starter in two and it was delicious, with a bit too garlic I think (tartare) As primo we both took risotto all'amarone and that was delicious. As secondo I took a guanciale and it was good, I would say 9/10. My boyfriend took a steak and asked for it to be "al sangue" but when they served it he realised it was medium so he was very disappointed. So in conclusion that plate was not good and the meat was a bit too crusty on the outside. As a dessert we took one with white chocolate (delicious) and one with dark chocolate and red fruit (too heavy).
All in all, if I go next time to this restaurant I think i will stick to the primo and definitely not...
Read moreI enjoyed my meal here but not sure I’d come back if I came to Verona again. It felt a little “tourist-trappy”, I asked for a glass of a house red wine and of course he brought me the most expensive wine, which cost 3x more than ALL the other red wines available. I came here to try one of the two traditional Veronese dishes - gnocchi ragu and risotto all’amarone, the gnocchi had horse meat, I asked if it could be served with any other sauce and he looked at me like I was nuts (sorry but horse meat isn’t in everyone’s grocery list) and the risotto required a minimum of 2-person order. Fine, I ordered a tagliatelle with mushrooms, radicchio and truffles. It was very good. For dessert I had the pistachio cheesecake which was ok. Service was what you expect from Italian restaurants, hit or miss and pretty slow but that’s (again) expected. In other words, I’d probably look for another option today but if this was the only restaurant available, I would eat...
Read moreCute cozy restaurant. Not a fan of the service though.
The menu is on a tablet rather than printed. I don’t want to see pictures of the food before it arrives, it seems very tacky.
They don’t serve house wine on the principle that ‘this place is famous for its wines’. And? I’ve had amazing house wines in Verona. It doesn’t need to be expensive to be good wine.
The waiters push you expensive recommended wines just to get your money rather than actually suggest something good. We were recommended the 2 most expensive wines on their menu… both around the 50€ mark.
The waiters don’t seem friendly, very stiff and don’t check on you at all. Didn’t feel very welcome (must be because we got the cheaper wine rather than the 50€ one).
Food was good but way too expensive compared to other...
