We went here, because at the time it had a 4.7 review from about 600 people. So it was really surprising, that this place turned out to be the worst place food-wise that we went to during our 11 day trip through Italy.
Positives: Staff were polite. Beer was OK.
Negatives: 2nd worst Aperol Spritz we had in Italy. When eating the Amarone risotto, you could clearly feel that the alcohol was not evaporated and the rice was undercooked (did not reach the al dente stage). This resulted in a very bad tasting dish. Caprese salad - two small tomatoes, cut up, a ball of burrata and some dried herbs. 13 EUR. (this one was my own fault for refusing to believe that someone could put so little effort in a salad for that price).
Next day we went to Hostaria Vecchia Fontanina for lunch (15 EUR for a two-course meal per person). Pasta, risotto, and a meat dish - all cooked just right, absolutely delicious. Staff cheerful, joking around with each other. Way better...
Read moreWith my partner, we stumbled upon Osteria a la Paterine by chance as we walked around Verona. What luck! After a quick look at the menu we agreed that we'd come back in the evening. We messaged the small restaurant and arranged a table for 7:30. When we arrived we were welcomed and shown to a nice table close to a lovely air conditioner!
I'm terrible with the names of dishes but we chose to share a starter dish of gnocchi pomodoro with tasty mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. Our main dishes were fettuccine with tomatoes and pesto as well as bigoli with mixed mushrooms, nuts and raisins.
We loved our food. Lots of new flavours which we thoroughly enjoyed with some sparkling Durello wine and a nice beer.
We applaud the wonderful staff and although we are only in Verona for a few days will...
Read moreIn my opinion, this place is overpriced. I came there for mushroom pasta with porcini and truffle sauce hoping it would be as tasty as in other places but I was fairly disappointed. For a price that is a few euro higher than in other places, I could barely find any porcini and almost all the mushrooms were other kind. The truffle taste was very minimal if existent. The portion size was fine - not super large but good. To be clear, they don’t position this pasta as purely porcini pasta so it’s all fine from that perspective but the price they set for what they deliver feels very off compared to other places. Also they did not bring grated hard cheese to season pasta like they do in other places. The texture of the pasta was good and they served the...
