We stumbled upon this little gem of a café and it instantly became one of the highlights of our trip. The atmosphere is wonderfully cosy—you can really feel the love that went into every detail of the space. The walls are filled with little treasures, from movie memorabilia (including an original Back to the Future poster from the 80s!) to shelves of records, giving it a nostalgic and personal touch.
The owner, Shōta, is absolutely delightful. We ended up having such a lovely chat with him, and you could tell he genuinely cares about creating a welcoming space for everyone who walks through the door. His record player is always spinning great music, and when we mentioned the kind of music we liked, he surprised us by putting on a Nujabes record—such a thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more special.
This café isn’t just a place to grab a drink—it feels like stepping into someone’s living room, full of warmth, character, and soul. We’ll definitely be back the next time...
Read moreWonderful place! The master is very kind and friendly and speaks English. The coffee is excellent and comes from fresh roasted beans, which are also for sale in bean or ground form. We had two hot lattes which were delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and relaxed, with a cool vibe and nice music played from some interesting retro-looking giant speakers. There is limited seating, so it’s not a place to hang out for hours, I think, but rather for getting excellent coffee. Still, we sat for about half an hour and chatted with some other regulars. The master also recommended some good manga series for us to check out. Thank you! We...
Read moreA couple weeks ago, we were looking for a place to have a great espresso and cappuccino and we found it at Common Coffee Counter. The owner was extremely friendly and made the best espresso we've had so far in Japan. He also has a great little place with an equally great sound system (super huge speakers, like something vintage out of the 80s). When I told him I liked jazz he said he'd put on an LP. I was happily amazed to hear the sweet sound of Pharoah Sanders' tenor sax come out to accompany our delicious coffee and time at Common Coffee. If you are in Kagoshima and dying for all of the above, then this is the...
