SUMOMO Tenmonkan store — Restaurant in Kagoshima

Amazing bakery that opens at 8am. Lots of very local ingredients and styles of bread. Japanese curry bread, soybean paste mochi buns, truffle salt bread and thick French toast with sugar, maple syrup or marmalade were some of the choices this morning when we grabbed our breads.

You have to bag your own breads before paying up and they charge for a large paper bag. No credit card but they have local e-money options with PayPay. Perfect for an early morning grab and go for drive trips.

They have a machine coffee thing and a couple of cold drinks but in Kagoshima there are many morning coffee houses like Tullys and Douter...

I think it's best strength is its location, I can just buy some bread for dinner 10 minutes before my bus arrive. The price range around 100yen~ and I don't remember seeing any bread reaching 200 yen. There's lots of variation of bread from sweet to salty. Some bread is kinda a miss for my tastebud, but I've found breads I like too. My current fav is mentai potato bread and honey whipped cream bread. You can also get hot...

I visited the shop 3 times in 4 days and was very satisfied in every of my visit. The bakery worths a post so more people can enjoy the bread.
