CAFÉSHOP — Restaurant in Kagoshima

The sausage omelet amd crossaint was terrific and the sausage tasted as many westerners would expect when thinking of breakfast sausage - rather than what Japanese call sausage but tends to taste more like a mildly seasoned hot dog. My latte was also great. The cakes, cookies, muffins, and brownies all looked tempting.

At first, service wasn't very warm or inviting and I was a bit confused when we walked in. It wasn't clear if they were open yet because we weren't intially greeted and there was a repairman fixing something where you'd expect to see tables. But the staff soon warmed up and were more personable once I asked if they were open. Maybe they were hesitant because they weren't sure if we could communicate in Japanese?

The atmosphere is just OK. The entrance was confusing to us as there is a desk on the opposite side of the cafe counter for some kind of salon that I think must be on the 2F. It's mostly just clean white inside and tables and chairs are just standard so the decor is a bit stark. The kitchen space is nice and open but if you want to sit down while they prepare your drink and food, you can't see the kitchen anyway because the customer seating is around a corner in the back. Amazing, a very luxurious and well served experience. We hade the possibility to sit outside at a long bar looking table, also watching the kitchen as the incredible chef put our coffee and food together, very entertaining and interesting!

Although the very appreciated visit I would wish for more tables outside, but it does not affect the fact that we were nothing but truly happy with the food. I believe as I have been in Japan trying several places, this was definitely the best breakfast so far!

One of the best cafes in Japan. Run by a local who lived many years in Canada it's got a hipster West Coast feel to it with some of the benches made from skateboards. Great coffee, and they even have soy and almond milk, very rare in Japan even in good cafes. Great selection of sweet and savoury dishes. Amazing banana bread, brownies, tarte tatin, croissants, etc. Chill vibe, good music, great place to hang out. Highly recommend it.
