Agreed with the above comment. Worst Yakatori eating experience ever.
I have never given a bad review on Google before. Instead putting it down to a bad experience and moving on. However visitor's need to be warned of Izakaya quality.
First came the spicy thigh skewers, which actually turned out to be chicken neck in teriaki sauce, not spicy salt. When I questioned the order there was apologies all round. The waiter went back to the grill there was a mutter of something then a laugh. I decided to put it down to 'lost in translation' an easy-ish mistake to make when English is not even your language. I ate these and they weren't bad just not what I ordered.
However the poor experience became worse. The 'spicy' grilled thigh I ordered came out boiled and was the consistency of old water-logged rubber boots. The thigh piece was so tough I couldn't even cut the skin with a knife (I thought this to be impossible until now). The picture of it looked delicious on crispy, and was even advertised as such.
The spicy salt wings came out next with no spice or salt to speak of. Three for three! It was then I decided to leave before getting my grilled rice ball, because I didn't want to face further disappointment.
Everything was wrong or was badly cooked.
Dispite having a English menu I would not recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto.

But it was a good izakaya (they have a seating fee per person). beer/whiskey sour is cheap. yakitori was good, not greatly seasoned but was good with our drinks. service is good, one guy was doing it all and very friendly. only bad part was ordering skewers, it's not really 1 to 1...some items comes in a pair so hard to tell the total amount since cost is based on total as 5 for $X and 10 for $X...but waiter did his best to tell us what we have total overall. chicken karage was good of course as in most places. good time with wifey regardless so...
Read moreWhy this rubbish service worth 300 yean per person? The waiters are all no trained. Why not put a sign 'Japanese only' in front? Because the hypocritical and poor owner wants foreigners' money, that's it. The restaurant is too low to offer membership service and is too narrow-minded to open to the world. All are losers, confirmed. Kyoto is my favorite Japanese city and this store is just one of the little rubbish. The food, despite the service is good, but after the whole meal, the only feeling...
