If you're an Animal Crossing nerd and you've ever wanted to go to Brewster's in real life, this is probably as close as you'll ever get. The shop master is a true coffee nerd, making what might be the best cup of coffee in all Kyoto, using a syphon! This place has true classic kissaten vibes, including the very cute elderly regulars who clearly come every day and are all friends. The food is excellent as well, but be prepared to stay a while. Then as we waited we read a review about how they are discriminating towards foreigners and they definitely are. A couple of old Japanese men were allowed in. And then after waiting outside for about 20 minutes they told us to go to another coffee shop down the street (which we couldn’t find).
