If you're an Animal Crossing nerd and you've ever wanted to go to Brewster's in real life, this is probably as close as you'll ever get. The shop master is a true coffee nerd, making what might be the best cup of coffee in all Kyoto, using a syphon! This place has true classic kissaten vibes, including the very cute elderly regulars who clearly come every day and are all friends. The food is excellent as well, but be prepared to stay a while. We came here because I really love weiner coffee and it looked like a cool spot. But when we got there it was full. So we waited. Then as we waited we read a review about how they are discriminating towards foreigners and they definitely are. A couple of old Japanese men were allowed in. And then after waiting outside for about 20 minutes they told us to go to another coffee shop down the street (which we couldn’t find). Also my friend speaks conversation Japanese so i thought that would be good enough. But nope. I didn’t think it would be that way seeing how there were some our tourist in there but yeah. Pass on...

Come for the coffee! Watching the woman make coffee with a siphon style method is fascinating. It looks like a chemistry experiment! You can tell she takes pride in her craft. She actually pours a small sip into her own mug and tastes it herself before she is willing to serve it to the customer. Food was simple but delicious.
