I recently had the immense pleasure of visiting the OBBLi Tacos food truck in Kyoto, Japan, and the experience was nothing short of exceptional. As a Mexican-American, I'm often searching for that genuine taste of home, and OBBLi Tacos not only delivered on flavor but offered a heartwarming blend of authentic Mexican cuisine and the impeccable freshness that Japan is known for.
The food was a true delight. I ordered the Quesadilla con Pollo (with chicken), which is pictured here, and every element was fresh, vibrant, and bursting with flavor. The melted cheese oozed perfectly around the seasoned chicken and rich red salsa, all nestled in a slightly purple-hued tortilla that added a unique Kyoto touch while maintaining its genuine Mexican soul. I also indulged in the Wagyu Beef Queso Birria Taco and a Sapporo Michelada, and both were standouts. The birria was rich, savory, and the use of premium Wagyu beef elevated this classic dish to a new level. It was clear that the ingredients were of the highest quality—everything was incredibly fresh.
What truly sets OBBLi Tacos apart is the atmosphere and the owner. He's running a fine establishment with authentic Mexican music playing softly and is genuinely friendly and engaging, conversing easily in Spanish. This commitment to the culture, from the music to the conversation, made the meal feel incredibly genuine. It was a proud moment to support this small, local business that is successfully bringing authentic Mexican flavors to Kyoto while honoring the quality and freshness of its Japanese surroundings.
If you're looking for an unforgettable food experience in Kyoto—one that’s flavorful, fresh, and served with a big dose of heart—you absolutely must find the OBBLi...

Read moreThis place is located near the Fushimi-Inari station on the way to Fushimi-Inari shrine. Being Mexican-American, running into this food truck was everything to my fiancée and I. The best part was the owner was wearing a Mexico soccer jersey, playing Mexican music and spoke Spanish as well. The customer service is excellent with good vibes and he asks to take a picture together once you’re done eating. You need to try the wagyu birria quesa tacos. Definitely need to stop here before...
