Every time I saw “Kochikame: Tokyo Beat Cops”, I wanted to taste Soba noodles. Finally, have the opportunity to fulfill it. However, we didn't know which restaurant sells real Soba noodles? The homestay owner recommended this restaurant for Soba noodles. And he told us we must be full because of its portion size.
We were a litle nervous because of our poor Japanese. The restaurant was so sweet to provide a menu online, which we could choose in our language. (≧▽≦)
Soba noodles/dry way We can taste the fragrance of Buckwheat. The dipping sauce didn't steal the flavor of the soba noodles. We loved it so much. (・∀・)
Soba noodles/wet way I liked the soup base, which was sweet and refreshing. Noodles are very chewy. I ate for hours, but the noodles didn't soften.
Yam puree It was dense. It was my first time tasting. Next time, I must order it again. (☆▽☆)
Beancurd skin It was sweet and different in flavor in Taiwan.
Fried pork cutlet rice Fried pork was crispy, and the pork inside was soft. We loved it so much. (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤
Smooth Egg Beef Rice Bowl I don't eat beef, so I just taste a little bit. My partner, a male rabbit, said, "Beef was soft and smooth." When I tasted the beef, I found that the beef "had no beef smell.", which was...
Read moreThis place was fairly close to our hotel so we decided to give it a try. It was located in the Avanti shopping centre in Kyoto. The food was good and portions were very generous. Super impressed with this place!
It was our first time eating at a restaurant dedicated to soba noodles. We were shocked with how generous the portions were. The daikon oden blew me away. They were gigantic! Really wish we had restaurants like this place in our own city. We live in greater Vancouver and there are plenty of Ramen noodle restaurants in Vancouver, but not a single restaurant dedicated to soba noodles.
You can have cold or hot soba noodle dishes here, and they have an assortment of side dishes as well that you can have to accompany your noodles. We ordered some combo dishes that came with bowls of oyako don and negitoro don. To that we added a few side dishes as well. Delicious but wow...we were so full afterwards. We had no idea how generous the...
Read moreI like this place. I actually ate there twice in a week. It’s on 1BF of the Avanti building. I like that there is no waiting (both times I went) and the service is very fast. You order off a QR code using your phone.. The menu has 5 different language options. The menu is broken into lots of different sections so just take your time. When you find something you like, just add to your cart. Even after submitting your order, you can go back and add more later on. The first time I had the soba noodle set with kaarage chicken over rice. So filling! The flavour of the soba soup is good. The second time I had a selection of smaller dishes - pork belly squares, grilled fish, chicken skewers and small hot soba noodles. Also had a shochu with lemon & soda. All up was 1800 yen. Service is very fast, so if you want a quick meal, order your food all at once. You can be done in 45 minutes all up. If you want to take longer, just order one dish...
