Very cheap and near the station, so it's pretty busy most of the time. I went past 10 and it was still crowded, but I still managed to find a seat immediately, especially since I'm a solo diner.
Food was good for the price, not something that I'd recommend to friends, but perfect if you need a quick meal and you're sick of konbini take out.
If it helps, you order and pay through the machine (English option available) where you can also use your IC card, take your receipt (2 pieces of paper), take a seat, and wait for your number to be called at the counter. I recommend translating what your queue number is in Japanese since I don't think they called mine in English. After eating you place your tray at the racks...

Maybe it was the 15hr journey to get here but we absolutely loved our food! It was after 10pm and everything in Kyoto station was closed or sold out so Nakau is a lifesaver!
Order food from ATM style machine. The screens have English option, and accept credit cards.
You can dine in or take out. We did take out: chicken and egg simmered on rice (oyakodon), pork katsu curry+salad, side order karaage chicken, karaage udon, so yummy. Even the salad with the sesame dressing was fresh and delicious. 3ppl, 2660 yen total.
