Kobe Beef Niitakaya — Restaurant in Osaka

We paid about €120 for two 120-gram portions. In other good restaurants where we had Kobe beef before, it literally melted in our mouths and was cheaper. This time, we ended up with two mediocre steaks:

The cheaper one—if you can use the word "cheaper" for this place—was clearly overcooked, which was obvious even in the photo. By the time it arrived, it was already cold. It was chewable, but the flavor was weak.

The more expensive one was better, but I’d only compare it to a standard ribeye or striploin that I could buy in my local steakhouse for five times less. Unfortunately, it wasn’t even close to what you expect from genuine Kobe beef. I suspect it wasn’t even Wagyu, just some cut from cows in Kobe.

Better think twice before eating in this restaurant. This is not the first time I've eaten A5 Kobe beef. I know the difference between wagyu (US, NZ, Japan) or A5 kobe beef (mouthwatering). I came to this restaurant only to eat A5 Kobe beef, nothing else. The beef I ordered (sirloin and fillet) is definitely not A5 Kobe beef, and it was not cooked properly either (medium-rare). I asked the young chef if this was an A5 Kobe beef. Because I didn't think it was A5, and he just pointed his finger to the menu and said yes, it was A5. I never got asked how the steak would be cooked and showed the A5 Kobe Beef Certificate. No complaints, just paid and left. I think some people who gave a good review have never tasted an A5 Kobe beef before.

Sneha, the manager and her team were amazing. The food they served was delicious and they also provided great service. We came during dinner, and ordered their dinner steak set menu for 9000 JPY. The meal was such a great value considering that it came with 100 g of premium steak, salad, miso soup, 2 pieces of Kobe sushi, rice, and non alcoholic drink. You can upgrade to an alcoholic drink for an additional 300 yen. There were other set menu choices available as well. The steak was cooked to perfection and it literally melt in your mouth.
