As you criss-cross the tiny, yet jam packs streets of Osaka, your nose might begin the all too familiar sweetness of fried and sugar covered sweetness. Your mouth might begin to water, your heart begins to beat faster, your blood pressure rises, you start running a temperature, and your HDL cholesterol levels automatically begin to rise.

Yes, it’s true, Krispy Kreme must be near. Hidden on a side street in a popular shopping area. It is offensive that this beautiful beacon of doughnut utopia is on a side street, but it’s probably better that way. I went on a weekday afternoon and was helped nearly immediately by a friendly and knowledgeable staff.

They have of course the original doughnut which is a must, but they also have varieties unique to Japan, like one of my current favorites; Sakura Mochi. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong at Krispy Kreme.
