Amazing sauna experience. I've only ever been to one other japanese style sauna in San Francisco's Kabuki Spa. I didn't know what to expect. I stumbled into this place in my first day in Osaka. What a joy this was. I ended going back a week later and had the most relaxing and pieceful 3 hours of my life.
The fascilities are very clean. Both times I went I was the only non-Japanese client. Most clients were in their 20's and 30's. Everyone mostly keeps to themselves but some small chatter can be heard between friends. I went on Tattoo day, and need a lot of clientelle is covered in them. The first time I went (on a thursday) it got a bit busy around 3pm, the river sauna and the resting area was packed. On my second visit (on a Tuesday), I went when it opened and every sauna had space the entire time.
The Sauna's themselves are great. All smelled great, and seemed pretty clean. My favorite ones were the Forest Sauna (the heat is oppresive in a great way), and the Tea Room Sauna (the smell of tea was very relaxing, low music). Highly recommend the little cubby in the tea room if you just want to zone out.
Although there are very little english signs anywhere I found the facilities easy to use. They have little cartoons on the signs telling you were to be quiet, how to properly go into the coldplunge river from the river sauna etc. If you don't speak Japanese, just use common sense and pay attention to what others around you are doing.
I bought a shirt on my way out, and they gave me a free bag and a snack for the road. The staff was incredibly nice, minimal english but enough to communicate with me (lots of pointing). I spent 4 hours each time i went just relaxing, I recommend the unlimited time package. Maybe 2 hours in a rush. I thought the prices were very good (but I'm used to paying $100+ in San Francisco).
Next time I'm in Osaka I will definitely be back....
Read moreThis place was a little hard to find, had to go up an elevator in a building in the middle of a shotengai. Make sure to take your shoes off at the lockers right when you get in and not be the ignorant tourist who walks up to the front desk in them like I did 😅 the baths are very clean, new, and modern, and there are something like 9 different saunas which was fun to try. There's also a couple of places to sit out and relax which was nice. All of the signage is in Japanese so felt a little in the dark. The staff was friendly and helpful though. One other thing to note is that the night pricing is way more expensive, like triple the price, and starts earlier than you'd expect, I think I got there at 8 or 9 and they were already charging the higher rate, so I'd recommend coming...
Read moreThis is an excellent sauna complex. It warmed my Finnish heart that one of the saunas even let you throw your own löyly. And thankfully none of the saunas had a TV in them. They have about 6 different saunas and a few hot and cold pools. It was also nice that there were different temperatures of cold pools from a 4 celcius cold plunge to a refreshing 18 celcius cooling pool.
Overall this was the closest to an original Finnish sauna experience that I've so far experienced in Japan.
The price on weekends is a bit high at 2600 yen, but very worth it. It's also a shame that your stay is time limited, but seeing how popular the place is it's...
